Hey Guys!
The wingspan of the plane is 155cm and the chord is 30cm. How big would you make the ailerons?
It's a slow AP plane.
Thank's !

About 1/4 the chord and the 1/4 the total span, at the tips.

Hey vintage1!
Thank's, but that means that they have to be 7.5 cm x 39 cm??
That's huge (7.5 cm width is too much isn't it? ) !?

You are free to decrease the aileron chord to 60mm or so. ;)
But as you stated it as beeing a slow model, the servos should manage even 75mm chord, right?

I took a lot of free flyers and beginners planes that were rudder and elevator only, without ailerons and cut out the ailerons that were inprinted in the wings. When I tried to fly them, they would hardly turn at all.
In order for the ailerons to work on these slowflyers, I had to increase the aileron size and reduce the dihederal.
Plus it made a big difference when I added differential to the ailerons, especially at low speeds.
Look at most of the 3D foamies, the ailerons are almost 1/3 of the wing!
But if your plane goes fast, then large ailerons will make it turn too fast and you'll need a light touch on the stick!! Butch

Slow flight and ailerons have a major dichotomy.. the down-going aileron creates a lot of drag on that side, more than it lifts.
A cure is to use 100% differential.. no down aileron at all, only up.
And couple the rudder to the aileron.. pushing the nose in the direction of the turn helps a lot.
