Have to rework my saddle area due to a midair on my Avistar trainer.
Can anyone tell me what the decalage should be set at between the wing and stab?
Have a robart meter but can't seem to find any specs. on a trainer.
I did read that a trainer should have a positive incidence .
Others say any where within a degree of zero will do.
Got to be something out there . Any help?

Frankly, for modest power, and a flat bottom main wing, wing base and stab parallell is probably OK.

The rest you will trim out in flight anyway...

A lot depends on how big and far away the tail is...the further away and the bigger, the less main wing incidence you need and the further back the centre of gravity goes..

Incidence is for the shop (rigging set up) not flying. The declage is about a complex subject such as CG position, tail area, tail moment arm, trimmed air speed, etc. That's why I agree with vintage1. "The rest you will trim out in flight anyway..."
That's why your elevator trim tab is on your radio!

Yeah and I'm in the shop.
I agree with Vintage also. So let me try and understand where your coming from.
Are you saying that I should pull any figure of degree out of a hat and build it in ?
Heck I can trim it out in the air? Then why bother with any incidence specs.

For safe flying, the plane needs a incidence in a range of about zero to two degrees relavitive wing incidence degrees to stab zero degrees incidence. Anything in that range is OK to begin the safe trim flights. Anything in the CG position is OK about 25% to 28% of wing Mean Aerodynamic Chord to begin the safe trim flights too. If you are a novice, then let an expert fly for the trim flights.

Even full scale aircaft, many have trim tab on control surfaces for the same function as the radio's transmitter trim tabs.
