Flew my Compulsion for the first time today. I've got some dailing in to do but it looks very promising. One of the other guys in the club got one and has been flying it for the last 3 weeks and seems pleased.

That's a good looking plane! I just picked up a set of wings used from someone, and they look a lot like the ones on that plane. I believe they were made by Fred Sage. Doesn't he also make the Psycho/Edge/Victory planes for NSP? He may even make the Prism Fuse and V-tail I put on order six weeks ago for the aforementioned wings...The only thing I don't like about them is the complete lack of leading edge reinforcement, there should really be some carbon tow, a fg rod or something to strengthen this area.

They could be Addiction wings, aslo by Fred.

As far as the LE, I apply a MINIMAL coat of epoxy to the unfinished area just to prevent minor dings. All the bagged wings I have seen have the same type of LE. Sometimes it is exposed CF, like the Addiction and Compulsion. Sometimes its just the foam or glass.

I have an Addiction (the sailplane) and am interested in how the Compulsion differs from it. What does it weigh? What airfoil did you get? Is there enough difference between the Addiction and Compulsion in launching and handling to notice? I have a Mantis with a 7037 wing and an Addiction with 7037. Both weigh 60 ozs. For a long time I could not tell much difference in flying between them. The way they are tuned now the Mantis is very stable on launch. The Addiction is right on the edge of veering and pulls harder over a range of tow hook settings. It breaks my winch line as soon as a weak spot develops. Both fly very well. The Mantis is more likely to survive a crash. I haven't crashed the Addiction but it seems more fragile.
Phil Barnes makes the wings for NSP (Psycho, Edge, Victory, etc). He also makes the Mantis kit. A friend recently was told by Phil that the Mantis he ordered more than a year ago was ready to ship. All considered I lean toward Fred Sage for sailplanes now, good planes, reasonable availability.
I just picked up a used Mantis with a MH32 wing. I want to see what that is all about.

I also have the Addicition as well as the Compulsion. I wanted a main Open class and a backup. I like how the Addiciton flew so...

The Compulsion has a different plan form and the wing area's larger. The fuze is about 2 inches longer. I have the 037 on both ships. They fly very similar and do it well!

Fred recommendsa 5-1/8" CG and towhook and, as with my Addiction, this is 'Pop-off' city! Learning from my Addiction experience, I moved the CG to 5" and the tow hook to 4-7/8". I'm still dialing things in but moved the towhook up another 1/6". Hopefully I'll get to fly it again this weekend.

I've had some VERY hard landings due to pilot error and the only damage that was ever sustained was some stress marks/cracks on the fuze between the rear of the RC gear opening and the wing LE.

Heres a photo of the Compulsion owned by a fellow club member. He ordered a slightly longer wing but has the same 7037 airfoil that I have...
