Howdy, gang.

I snapped a few Raven pics on my back from lunch today (I love my job!). Interesting aircraft and operating concept. I got to witness the mission from launch to recovery. Recovery has to be seen to believe...

A good time was had by all...

I took a peek at the video on the manufacturer's website - do they use a type of 'dethermalizer' to land the hing? Looks like it gets within a few feet of the ground and then just drops.

Why yes they do. (use a dethermalizer)

Yeah, the landings I saw were from maybe 50' AGL. Fell like a brick... Spot on.

Makes me wonder how well a dethermalizer would work on a model like the slowstick. With that big undercambered wing with little weight it should float down. I suppose one could design it to leave a little forward speed and control the landing with rudder (and a GPS autopilot).

Just some random thoughts.....
