Guys
I just opened the package of my very first brand spanking new Hacker. Neat little motor but it has very little "cogging" FWIW.
Anyways I want to use the "radial" mount that came with the kit. I understand I mount it with the supplied countersunk screws. Ok and I mounted the alum prop mount with the supplied screws on the other side. No big deal.
But what about the prop shaft thats going to protrude into the model?!? This cant be right.
The shaft has 2 set screws that appear to hold it in. The first one is 1.5mm. The 2nd one had better not be 1.5mm as its larger then the 1st and I cant get it loose!
So whats the skinny. Does Hacker expect you to mount the motor has I have pictured below?
Thanks!

My Axi I use to have mounted the same way as the Hacker. What is the problem?

The length of shaft sticking out the rear.
Can the shaft be reversed perhaps?
Thanks!

What's the problem with drilling a hole in the firewall ??

Shafts are cheap... buy a couple spares and just cut that one down...
You are offended by something that should not bother you really...
Just a little hole in the fire wall is all....

That shaft is a firing pin as far as Im concerned pointing directly at my LiPo pack. On a hard nose in that would throw the battery forward I might damage the pack on that shaft.
If you dont know how to reverse the shaft stop offering other suggestions.
I had hoped someone from Hacker might have chimed in as Im not the only person whom has asked this question before in other forums.

Dear Tommy,
The A30 design incorporates both front and rear mounting options. If you choose to only rear mount this motor, it is totally acceptable to use the supplied a wheel collar and cut the shaft immediately behind the installed wheel collar. (Please understand however, doing this will not allow you to utilize the firewall mounting option unless a replacement shaft is installed.)

Why? They are basically the same.

The AXI shaft as it extends out the rear is VERY short.

I don't see much of a difference. A Dremel and a cutoff wheel would yield the same results. To each his own, I suppose.

Mike
Till you hold the A30 and Axi in your hand I would save the comments. The Axi shaft will come right out.
Try that with the hacker.
Im not about to dremel off the shaft to use the "radial mount" only to be unable to replace the shaft easily.
Perhaps after I fly the Hacker I might change my mind.
