This is my Drake II flying boat, designed by Ken Willard. I took out the dihedral, added ailerons and used an NACA 2313 airfoil. It is powered by an OS .15 FP.

Nice job with the video!

Wow that was a lot of touch-and-goes, you usually don't see that many, esp on the water!

Thanks,

I don't get to fly off of water very often so I wanted to get as much use of it as I could.

It's always great to see a Drake flying.

The Drake II has been one of my favorite models since the original article came out in Model Aviation. I immediately set to work, and scaled mine from the plans in the magazine a little larger as I didn't have a .15 at the time. 54 inches with an Enya 19 worked out well, but it also flies great with an OS 25 FSR or OS 30 (current installation). It could use a recover, but I may just hang it up and build another.

FWIW, plans are still available from the AMA for $14.

Thanks Thayer. It's just a wonderful, timeless design.
