View Full Version : Psyko LT servo suggestions?

I just acquired a molded Psyko 3 LT. What servos are recommended? I used 4 Volz wingmaxx in the past on my old Psyko 3 (non-LT) ailerons, and flaps, and regular Volz, on the rudder and elevator.
Recently, I saw the new Hitec digital 5125 wing servos, and 5245 digital minis. I am contemplating trying 4 of the 5125s and two 5245 for rudder / elevator.
Comments and input please?
Thanks in advance,
Anders

All good choices except possibly for the rudder. Digital servos can burn up if the output is jammed. The Psyco light has little ground clearance on the rudder. If it jams against a small obstruction on a groud loop, there is risk. I would use a robust, metal geared, non-digital servo on rudder.

Although a little pricey the JR DS-368 digital servos are very nice. I just installed them in my Xtreme. They center great. First flight later today. Fun Fun

Keep me posted on the 368s, please. I was contemplating them too. Hitec has a so-so reputation in the giant scale discipline (I use 56XX,59XX, and 5735s fairly frequent, without problems though).
The Psyko LT is supposed to come in at around 58 ounces... probably same as the ones you have had...

I've got the 368's as flap servos on an Addiction and Compulsion and they perform flawlessly. A club member has them for his Compulsion's flaps as well.

I have had both the Psyko 3 LT and the Psyko 3 Molded. The LT is somewhere around Rome Georgia on the other side of the river from the sod farm (too far downwind, too low, no ballast, too much wind, too damn dumb) but I digress...
I have used HS85MG's on all the surfaces on both ships and have never had a problem. I am hearing some bad stuff on the new HiTec Digital stuff (ie. centering problems, realibility issues, etc.)and as much as I want to use them, I for one am going to wait and see if the situation improves any, and I'm sure it will HiTec will cure the problems.
However if I was going to set one up today I would use either MPX or Volz servo's or if $$$ is the main consideration I would still use the HS85MG everywhere but the elevator and I'd use a HS225 on that.
Now as to the weight difference between the LT and the Moldie (and as far as I know there is not a molded LT) the moldie weighs in between 68 and 70 oz and the LT around 62 oz.
So my first post on this exchange but a long time RCSE junkie. Hope this list stays clean...
