I wondered if the Hitec USB interface cable will work with sims other than FMS? I need to buy a simulator and I'm looking at Clearview right now. As I understand it, these USB interfaces basically allow you to use your transmitter as a joystick in that it will have the ability to be utilized as an input device. Am I correct on this? I figured I should check before I go purchase it, our LHS has is for $23.

I use the Hitec USB adapter with Clearview and it works very well. The adapter can be used with almost any transmitter that has a buddy box output as long as you know how to identify the ground and signal leads. The Hitec USB adapter will probably come with an adapter to fit their transmitters. I use mine with the Optic 6 transmitter. I also recommend removing your RF module or Xtal to reduce current draw and possible damage to the output transistor with the antenna down when using it with the simulator.

If you're using a JR TX, you don't turn it on. Inserting the plug in the jack automatically turns on just the PPM control signal generator, and not the TX circuit. No need to remove anything. They use this feature with a kit to install in your aircraft that can hook up to the trainer jack to set up your controls without broadcasting also. Kind of handy if you want to do some preliminary checks while waiting for your frequency pin to become available. ;)
