I am thinking about getting into RC boats. We live on a pond about 200X100 meters. It's sheltered and very calm most of the time.
Please suggest a boat that will be very reliable to use, with a transmitter range of at least 200 meters, and the longest possible recharge interval. A cruiser-type boat is what I have in mind, not a racing boat. Thanks for any help you can give me. Tomas.

Tomas,
I think your best bet would be to start looking at what's available and picking one that you really like. Not much fun having the 'best' boat around (whatever that means), and not liking it much. Then you have a choice of building or a 'Ready T Run' kinda boat. Not that there's anything wrong with the 'RTR' thingys, but they usually aren't the most satisfying things around.
Long run times are directly related to battery capacities. The 'bigger' the battery the longer the boat runs (there are limits). The same for radio range. Usually the radios supplied with the 'RTR' boats are not going to be the 'best' in the world. (Take all this with a grain of salt, you know?)
Then it's a matter of how much do you (are you willing) want to spend. Just like everything else, cost isn't the best way of judging the 'worth' of a boat. My favorite boat is a sort of 'cheap' one, not very impresive, but since it was so easy for me to build (and it worked!) the most satisfying.

PS - If you decide to build, and if you aren't very 'handy' (<-- me!) then start 'simple'. Nobody has just one boat! (Required warning, you know)

Harbor Springs Michigan?
Hop in your car and come down and see the Michigan Scale Model Boat Club (www.michiganmodelboats.com) tomorrow (Saturday), when we take over the city swimming pool in West Bloomfield (http://www.westbloomfieldparks.org/home/welcome.shtml)! Lots of boats to look at.

Wow, I live near West Bloomfield. I will try and squeeze it in. I have a DSO concert to attend (my girlfriend play in the DSO).

What's "golf"?
Chipotle (http://www.chipotle.com/) is more my speed! But I have floated a boat in the pond out front of the Lark (http://www.thelark.com/Pages/MenuMayJune05.html).

We'll be there around 10am if that helps the schedule.
