Hello, I have looked around for a good amount of time trying to find a lot of servo wires/connectors. Does anyone know a digikey or mouser part number for the standard square servo connector? I ordered some that I thought were the right ones but they turned out to be the wrong size.....Thanks

Servo connectors are pretty much hobby-specific. We get ours from Maxx Products, and i know of several R/C manufacturers that are a good bit bigger than us that also get them from Maxx. Radical RC also stocks them in bulk, as well as a few other RC distributors like Balsa Products. But they're not going to be in the digikey catalog. You can get .1" female headers which are close, but the shroud is wrong.

Servo pin spacing and size is identical to the pin headers in a computer... the 4 pin speaker connectors cut into a match for the Futaba connector fairly easilly (alignment lug and all :D )

For wire... I get the 3-conductor stuff intended for HO railroads. Probably not the cheapest way to get it... but its easy to find and its equal to the stuff on a "Standard" servo. The brand carried at Hobby Lobby craft stores (not the same Hobby-Lobby as sponsors this website) has the same colors as JR servo wires.

I have a package of connectors sold specificly for replacing servo plugs... I got them from a vendor at the AMA Grand Event last summer. I can look for the package and get the info off of it. There are a couple of companies selling these. My local hobby shop occasionally has them in stock.

I went ahead and looked a Balsa products and bought 10 pairs of servo connectors and 50 feet of wire. It all turned out to be somewhere like $17 Thanks

Hi,

Tower Hobbies has servo wire.
For servo connector I use ref. 865-618 and ref. 865-795 from http://www.farnell.com . U just need to chamfer one corner of the housing to fit Rx.
Their crimping tool is quite expen$ive.
Do a search on the radio section.

I remember a long time ago, a very long time ago when Futaba receivers had sockets for the servo leads and the servos had little plugs with pins! (that was when servos came in 2 flavours, black or red)....I unsoldered the whole socket assembly and replaced it with gold plated 0.1" headers cut up into strips of 3, I even rember "skyleader" radio and 4 wire servos. Am I old?

Really old is the multi channel ED REED outfit my pal Diesel Dave has. Made 6th Dec 1956. I'm just about to restore it for him. Mind you it's in pristine condition. Any one got a 120 volt HT battery? .....Just kidding...I will make an invertor for it and power it with a big ni-cad pack. Anyway when did you get your bus pass? I've just qualified. :) :D :D :D

Best regards, John in West Midlands.

Check out:

These are not for high current applications (smaller gauge wire) but in fact have gold plated connectors and decent quality. No crimper needed ;)
