I have seen on Horizon Hobby website that Avionics is now distributing all the Kokam 20C and 15C lipo in the USA.
http://www.teamorion-avionics.com/ Now we will finally have access to Kokam in large qty since Team Orion is behind Avionics.

Who cares what sticker is on the battery? The underlying cells are still the miserable Kokams.

And the English in this thread http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=512240 has the verb usage and syntax as if it is from a non-native speaker - perhaps Korean??? And with a name like nicholas madison (notice the lack of capitalization) Double hmmmmmm.

You just have to love those threads with a product shot, a link to a website, and a "Hey, have you guys tried out XYZ? I just found it over at this website and it looks to be the best in the world. What do you think?"

People should just answer such obvious shills with posts like "I bought an XYZ and it was terrible. It failed on the 2nd flight and then their customer service wouldn't give me a refund. I'll never buy one again!"

Hey, if they can pretend to be a happy customer of their own products then I can pretend to be an unhappy one;) Eventually they'll realize that spamming a forum like this is counter-productive.

Orion is a swiss company as far as I know, and what is wrong with kokam cells? I don't use them but I know a lot of people who are very happy with theirs.

Actually I think this post is a bit of a tipoff that Mr. Madison isn't just a user trying to help us find a great deal.

Team Orion is pleased to announce the creation of the Avionics product line.
The Avionics brand will consist of complete power systems for all modern electric planes and helicopters. The first Team Orion Avionics products will be dedicated to Park Flyer Planes and Micro Helicopters with many items crossing over to other electric powered flying machines.

The following products will be available Summer 2006:

• Brushed Motors
• Brushed Motor Electronic Speed Controllers
• Brushless Motors
• Brushless Motor Electronic Speed Controllers
• NiMH Batteries
• LiPo Batteries
• LiPo / NiMH Chargers
• LiPo Balancer
• Accessories
• Promotional Items

To discover all the exciting products Team Orion Avionics has to offer, visit:

lol... good work Dan.

I love how these vendors think they're sly enough to "fool the masses".

If anything, it hurts their reputation... a poor practice indeed. Most Kokam cells = largest lipo disappointment in my book.

I was suspicious right away, and did a "all posts by this user" search. He alternately asks questions and promotes the "Avionics" line. The products may be fine, but this behavior ruins their reputation. The blatant promos are especially bad since they aren't even an RCG Sponsor...

My two cents...

Interesting - it was there an hour ago. What it was was a user profile for Mr. Madison. There were links to three threads, one of which was about the Avionics version of the Multiplex LN5014 charger.

"Team Orion" is a long-known name in the electric power business, especially for cars.

"Mr. Madison" is a rep from our European division and has been "taken behind the wood shed" if you know what I mean. I am sorry for his cheap tatics I have been a part of this forum for a long time and have stayed unbiased in the past but know I feel the need to change my title giving me the right to comment on Team Orion in an upfront manner. I am an American and that is where Avionics is based out of. If anyone has any questions please feel free to PM me. Also for those few questioning Kokam, I will stand by the Kokam name as we have spent several years bringing Li-Po tech to the car world and Kokam by far was the only cell that could handle the high draw of our 6x1 On-Road 540 motors. This is why we have sided ourselves with them as we return to our roots on the Aircraft market.

Thank You,

Mr. Black

I am beginning to see many ads. It appears that Team Orion gathers good products from several quarters to sell with their label on them. Kokam cells, a balancer that appears identical to the Hyperion LBA-6 and a charger that appears to be the little Ripmax Quattro, and more. It will be interesting to see how this all develops. Except for their propensity to lose capacity over time whether used or not I have been well pleased with the performance of the current generation of the Kokam cells. One of my back Recurring Charge columns says what I think of that little charger, and the balancer is a good one (though I like the user interface of the ElectriFly variant a bit better).

Good luck in this crazy marketplace!

And yes, it's good "Mr. Madison" was taken out to the woodshed. This is not the place to try to earn goodwill with shill marketing.
