I'm trying to repair a crash-damaged Futaba Gy401 that has lost a SMD component, using a healthy Gy401 as a "template". Unfortunately I'm not sure exactly what kind of component it is.

It's the larger component on in this picture, if 1,7x1,2mm can be called large.
Does anyone recoginze it? (Is it a diode maybe?)

Hi, Magnus

That looks like a Tantalum capacitor ...but can't read the value ... it must be read from the "474" resistor side.

Value is on the first line, Nominal voltage on the second.

Ooops, thats bad! Because what you see is all thats possible to see. :(

The second line might be interpreted as a "4", but as to the first line.......

try throwing a capacitance meter across the good one and see what it reads. If it reads really low (picofarads), then try doing a diode check. A decent inexpensive multimeter should have both functions.

It seems to be a capacitor. Doesnt look like a diode because its connected in parallel with the resistor and the case seems to be size "A" and not the classic SMA diode shape that is more rectangular shaped. To get the correct value you will have to do some research...
Try downloading data sheets from the big companies like AVX, SANYO KEMET and such, and go to marking part of the data sheet and try your luck...

Thanks guys!
My truly inexpensive multimeter read 1.87uF across the good one and 0 across the pads to the missing one. So it does indeed appear to be a capacitor, but I will spend some time checking data sheets and see if I can find a match.

Hi, Magnus

May be a very ordinary tantalum cap 2.2µF / 16 v ( not SMD ... ) could be soldered on the pads.
a drop of contact glue would definitly secure it.

... Just an idea !!!
