You will want to post this in the Multi Rotor Heli Forum under electric Helicopters.

Sounds like you batteries went bad or your charger.

I tried charging the thing with my swallow charger it would hover about 6in which was an improvement so i boosted up the charging to 1.3 amp and it went a bit higher tried increasing the charge to 1.4 after 5 min heard a pop the thing is now toast well at least i tried first two flights it was realy humming went right up to the roof. Time to chuck it in the bin and hope my nine year old dosent ask dad were is my UFO??

Don't chuck it ..... sounds to me like it was a Nimih battery and you were just charging it with the wrong setting on your swallow charger and blew it up ...
Get a new battery and the right charger for it and try again. Some of the nimihs don't like over charge setting that some chargers can produce ,,,always use the kit supplied stuff first and then start venturing out on your own after you get to know the product a little better.
The nimihs will kind of do that ,,if I remember right and then after about 8 or 10 charges they will start coming back to life ,,like they have to be broke in or something .
Good luck and keep trying and don't give up ,,,,for your son's sake
