Ahoy Mates;
i was able to pick up a gato class sub. the thing is she needs paint. i do not know who made her as of yet since it has not arived here yet.i would ask if there is a better paint that would be used on her. thanks for any help you can give.

That's a Dumas Bluefish. If you want to go with "cheap" paint, then just about any "rattlecan" will do. Just shoot some clear on after the other paint is on.
I'm no expert, but this seems to be an OK method.

wingnut163,
I used Rust-O - Leum, flat black over red oxide primer, worked fine for me. :)

Metrix; thanks. dumas you say. ok, rather use some thing thats closer to the real thing. worked on these. the gato and the balao class are the same looking . the balao was double hull or the first "thick-skinned" boats. want it to be the balao SS 285. she was the boat that they use for the movie Operation Petticoat.

I used some Floquil Polly Scale model railroad colors on USS HAMMERHEAD (SS 364) and USS BARB (SSN 596). On HAMMERHEAD I used the following colors: Ocean gray 5-0; Steam Power Black; Night Black; Grimy Black; Tarnished Black; Oily Black; and Engine Black. On the BARB I used: Oxide Red; Tarnished Black; and Grimy Black.

well after three weeks or so and a lot off e-mails and getting eBay in to it the sub got to my door.
if he put a lot more work in to it than it was to cut the receiver antenna wire. in one place he said a 4 ch radio and in another a 7 ch radio. its a four. the sub looks like it went through the WW2 and ill have to see what i can do to it. the picture looks nothing like what i got. the one i have has dive planes on it thow.
got to try to fix the antenna, think i should replace it in full or jusst solder it back to the wire in the boat?
