So far, unofficial testing shows outrunner motors like the Axi 5330/F3A can haul a draggy 11lb pattern plane vertical for as far as the eye can see, no problem. Most are running 10s TP 5300's (or smaller) and some flavor APC-e prop, 20-22" diameter, 10-13" of pitch. This results in WOT amperage pull of ~80A (w/ a 22x12 APCe) but after some practice and throttle management, a Masters sequence can be flown at less than 70A and 3500mAh (depending on winds, etc...).
The main specs for the Axi are:
RPM/V: 235
Weight: 652g (23oz) (1.44lb)
Now, the Hacker A60-20S (very similar):
RPM/V: 235
Weight: 595g (21oz) (1.31lb)
Key points: First, Hacker recommends a much smaller prop (19x10) with this motor as opposed to the 22x12 recommended by Axi. However, Hacker has lower KV motors such as their A60-22S (215 Kv) and A60-24S (200 Kv.) Second, Hackers are only rated to 50A "burst" where the Axi is rated at 72A "burst."
The question: Considering the similarities between the two motors, but realizing the Hacker A60-xxS series are rated to less Watts, can the A60-20S motor handle the power required to fly a “heavy” (11lb) pattern plane in Masters? How about FAI P07 or F07?
Thanks for reading...

EVERY hacker I have EVER had (and that is a bunch) are SERIOUSLY under rated. You can bet your bippie it wil stand toe to toe with a AXI. I would be shocked it it can't. All other Hackers will match or outperform AXI's and I own them too.
Call Hacker Brushless and talk to Sean. I can promise you Quique and or Jason Shulman has had one in a pattern ship for a while now and Hacker has feedback to give.

Dear Hacker Reps:
As Futurase suggests, are there any results or data coming from your A60-**S sponsored testers that you might share?
Thanks,

Send a PM to Jason Shulman as he does a lot of testing for Hacker and he is on RC Groups here (JAS) and is a very nice and down to earth guy.
If I wanted to know about Hacker and Pattern is the same sentence I would ask him.

The A60-S series motors should offer the competition pattern pilot a nice alternative to the Hacker C50 Competition (geared) system. As the pattern season has just begun, it will take a month or two for the final set-ups (kv, battery, prop) to be determined.
We believe the A60-20S using APCE 20-22" props and TP 5300mah batteries will provide excellent power for the 2M competition pattern pilot.

Hi again... wondering if any setups have been finalized yet?
I'm especially interested in an A60-22S setup and any associated data (prop, battery, amperage with wide open throttle on the ground, rpm, etc...)
Thanks!

Toy, there are two good places to ask where a lot of pattern pilots will read them.
1. RCuniverse's pattern and electric pattern forums
2. NSRCA.org's email discussion list
