My A20-22l has been AMAZING for 250-300 flights, but I recently changed motor mount and had to turn the motor around from the 'X-mount' to behind a cage.

Now, at low RPMs (say 1/5 throttle or so, for about a 200 RPM range), there is a screechy whine in the motor, sounds like it is related to a vibration.

I've tried different 'balanced' props and prop adapters...all make a noise at LOW RPM's.

I've tried no load on the motor (at low RPMs)....NO noise.

SO, when the motor is under load, there is a vibration induced at LOW RPMs. At HIGHER RPMs, no problems!! I'm assuming that it is a harmonic noise induced at a certain RPM...probably the bearings are going!!

I took the bell off, WHAT DO I LOOK FOR? HOW CAN I FIX IT?

Thanks all!!

Big Breeze,

It sounds as though you may have a bad bearing. Please send your motor in to us for repair/replacement with a copy of our repair form. http://www.hackerbrushless.com/contact.shtml

Say Kyna,

Speaking of bearings, I have two A20-20L's and both came with bad bearings from the factory. When I say "bad" I mean the motors emit growling sounds (one worse than the other) when it runs, unlike the AXI and Himax outrunners I own which are whisper quiet when they run. I am loathe to remove the motors from my airplanes and send them in but would like to replace the bearings when next I have them out of the aircraft(s). Are replacement bearings available for these motors and are there special pressing fixtures necessary to replace them?

Thanks, diceco
