Anyone still running this sailboat? My father bought it many years ago and I'd like to get my hands on another and build it. I am not new to rc or boats just putting a sailboat together.. Is they Fairwind a worthy starter boat? I just want to be able to take it to the pond/lake and enjoy the day..

Thanks
Chris

I started with a Fairwind last year. Great boat, easy to build, and looks good. However, if you are interested in racing it, look up info about building tips and mods BEFORE you build it. I made the mistake of not doing that when I got my boat. Many of the mods need to be done (or it's easier to do them) during the initial build.

I am thinking about selling my Fairwind. It's a good tight boat with no issues (other than being a stock by-the-manual boat, which isn't really a bad thing). I just bought a Seawind, though. Email me if you're interested, I'll make you a very good offer! crlovel@aol.com :)

Hi Chris...the Fairwind is alive and well...it's a fun boat to sail and race if you want.

Here's a couple sites-

Lots of info here on building ideas, parts suppliers, tricking it out for racing, and other cool stuff:

I have enjoyed my Fairwind for many years now, great first boat, inexpensive, looks good/real, is easy to rig and handle, sails easy and relaxing, but realistically, can be tuned up into something competitive. Can't find them at tower Hobbies anymore though, where are people buying them now?

I need a steering wheel from a Fairwind or Seawind, PM me here if you want to sell your unwanted Fairwind/Seawind parts. The wheel's the main thing I need, but some of the chrome parts are also of interest - if you're rigging yours for racing, you probably don't care to keep them, i'll buy them off you.

Also looking for the main hatch cover and a keel bulb weight for a Seawind, and the stock plastic bulb cover. Will make something from scratch if I have to, but prefer to buy used stock ones.

Hi Aten,
These guys sell the fairwind and the parts.

Might even sell the chome kit you're looking for, give them a call.

Most folks don't put the extra parts on the fairwind for sailing/racing and such.
They do look nice if it's on the mantel. :D

Some one from Bucks County
Grew up there - outside of Doylestown in a little village called Gardenville.
Haven't visited back there for three years now. Left in 1988 - could not take all the building and house coming up the hill to where I lived.

Nice to see some one from the old neighborhood. By the way just bought a Fairwind last year form my bother in law - nice boat - need repair the boat stand and then will give her a run.

Happy Modeling,
Rich

I just purchased the new Fairwind with a fiberglass hull. I purchased it from American-RC It's the the Kyosho site that's advertised on the AMYA site. I remember he had Fairwind 900 parts. The only problem is that the guy that runs the site was called to active duty and has shut his site down I guess till he comes back. I ordered my boat in MAY and finally got it in September. (the end of September I might add) The boat is great but the radio system I got with it was garbage. I've since purchased a spectrum 5e 2.4 for it and my CR 914 and I know when I get a good sail servo it will be a good day sailer. (it's a fairly slow sailer compared to my CR 914)
I am in the process of getting it registered. I'm not shure if it qualifies in the Fairwind 900 class because of the hull.
Sorry got off track.... Maybe if you send him an email he could let you know if he still has parts for the Fairwind 900
His name is Philip his email address is Orders@american-rc.com be patient though because it takes him time to return your mail.
