Hi,

I have a problem. I bought a Hacker A30-10XL motor to install into a Omei 2000 plane and all I get out of it is jitters.

I have tried it on two different ESC (Jeti 40B Plus and Phoenix 45) and I get the same results from both. And the Axi 2820-10 works fine on both.

I was getting ready to send the Hacker back until I tried it one last time, and it worked (for about 10 seconds) I shut it down and tried it again and I was back to the jitters again.

Is there a setting on the ESC that I should be changing or do I have a screwed up motor, Or am I using the wrong ESC?

Please help.
Dave

The most likely cause of that problem is a bad conection between the motor and esc.

It could be a loose or dirty conection or a poor solder joint or a broken wire or a short inside the motor.

It could also be a bad esc, but that less often the cause of jittering instead of starting - especially since it does the same thing on seversal esc's. Its probably the motor side that has the problem.

Sometimes the motor wires will break inside the insulation where you cant see it easily. It could just be one of the two wires that goes to each motor conector.

I would start by checking the continuity btween all the legs of the motor to each other. make sure they read zero ohms. Then check each leg against the motor case and shaft - they should read infinity.

If it passes those two tests - remove the insulation around the motor conectors and look them over carefully. If they look good re-solder them all and try again. This may void your warrantee - so get permission from Hacker first or jus send it in.

Good luck!

Dave,

I competely agree with Larry. It sounds as though you have a bad connection between your motor and esc. There could possibly be a short in the windings, or just a bad solder joint. Please check the solder joints on the motor wires and connectors. If they appear to be correct, please send your motor into us for repair or replacement.

Please use the repair form found on our website http://www.hackerbrushless.com/contact.shtml.

Thanks Larry and Kyna for your response.

I'm not much of an elecrition, but I think I can manage those tests, I'll check it out.

I'll let you know what I find.

Well this is what I found in the ohms test. The middle and right wires test "0", the wire on the left shows nothing when tested with the middle and right wires.

The solder joints tested good. I didn't try anything inside the motor because that is way beyond my knowledge, but looking at it I couldn't see any problems.

So I quess I'll have to send it for repair or replacement.

Thanks for the help
Dave

Hello Larry and Kyna,

I got my motor back, they replaced it with a new one. And it works like a charm.

Thanks for your help. And thanks Hacker
