Helping a friend set up a full house glider ( no motor ) on a Flash 5SX.
Don't bother telling me about what radio he should buy. That is not an option.
Here is the key. The manual talks about flapperons but not flaps.
We want to set up the flaps on the throttle stick OR on 3 position switch and have elevator compensation. Can this be done on the 5 SX?
I would appreciate advice here. He has not started the set-up yet. Probably a few weeks away, but I want to help him.
I did several searches but can't find a thread that addresses this. But someone out there has done this.
Any advice?

Hi Aeajr,
I beleive you must use the LANDING mode to activate the flaps from a three way switch. It will be an all-or-none set-up, but it does provide for elevator compensation.

If, by saying "Full House", you're trying to setup a six servo plane, this radio won't do it unless you run the flaps with a "Y" connector off the throttle stick. It will do flaperons or spoilerons though, in Glide, or Glideactro modes. Chris

Full house, as I understand it in glider terms, means R/E/A/F.
A=1 or 1 and 5
E= 2
R=4
I could put flaps on 3, throttle, but I don't see how to engage elevator comp.

I have the Flash 5X and I have the same problem (except I want to use spoilers instead of flaps).
In GLID mode:
You cannot use the throttle stick to control flaps (ch 3). Only SW1 controls the flaps. Compensation is activited with SW3 and can only affect channels 1,2,5. The best you can do is flick SW1 and SW3 simultaneously for the compensation to kick in when you fully extend the flaps.
In GLIDACRO mode:
You can use the throttle stick to control flaps (ch 3). Compensation is fixed and cannot be made proportional to the throttle stick.
In ACRO mode:
There is no compensation at all!
If your friend didn't have the flaps, you could use the throttle stick to control flaperons and even have proportional compensation.
This radio is okay for an absolute beginner (which I was last year), but I am quickly getting disappointed with its limitations. I'm an embedded systems programmer, and I seriously think that these limitations are BOGUS and just a way for Hitec to make more money with the higher-end transmitters. I've done WAY more sophisticated things with a cheap 3-5$ micro-power microcontroller... so low amounts of memory or whatever is no excuse.
If were more experienced in RF design, I think I'd try to make my own darn radio with no crippling limitations. :)
