Is there a way to convert files from other simulators to FMS format?

Basically the files of a plane in one simulator ( ie MS simulator or x-plane ) converted to work in FMS

You will basically need to find an intermediate application that can read and write both formats.
FMS uses .X format and I believe can use .geo format. It uses Metasequoia as its editor.
However, that usually only gets you the basic 3D object converted then you generally need to edit the relevant parameter file. In FMS this is the .par So far I haven't come across any converters that will transpose parameters between simulators so unless someone knows differently it is a matter of understanding what is required and coding it by hand.

Thanks, the forum is down on the FMS site so I am a little lost to the fine details. FMS has a PAR editor so I can start with a similar plane.
I am having great fun editing PARs of planes that I have flown as real models to make them more realistic. ( bumps and warts )

It tends to work the other way around. There are many models around for FMS some with realistic performance and some not. Generally these are used as the basis for conversion to other simulators.
In many cases the models that are available as add-ons for other simulators were originally for FMS so rather than converting them back you would be better finding the original. Take a look in any readme file that comes with them as they ought to contain details of the original if they were converted.
One word of warning though don't convert any paid for models without the express permission of the author, which is generally good practice anyway for freely available models.
