Yup - one more clone! But the Tx looks smallish - shurely difficult to mod, as not much room in it. I like the AA/xt TX's more.

Such a demonstration of creativity.... NOT. What a blatant ripoff.
They could have made some improvements or somehow added their own special style to the design, but no... just took the reeeeeal easy way. Sounds like they even dumbed it down by using Nimh. Reminds me of the Bladerunner clones that tried to capitalize on the hard work of that heli's designer. Sadly, this seems to be the way of the toy market these days.

Raidentech gets no respect from me. Not one bit.

They even have a clone of a Wing Dragon - a clone of a clone?

Hey, they painted the wing - innovation! I like that.

It does not mention EPP. It has very similar mold marks on top of the wing.

Its not a surprise since they reverse engineer everything. Copyright laws mean nothing to them. I don;t blame raidentech since they do not manufacture the toys, they just sell them. I am surprised that none of the US toymakers or copyright holders go after these copycats. Perhaps its not worth it for them.

Everytime something good comes out and sells well, a clone(s) can be seen within a few months. This occurs not only in the toy business, but other industries as well. They copy tools, clothes, purses..etc clones are out there and people will continue to buy them since they are cheaper than the original (even if the quality is poor or not quality controlled).

Howdy Danny,

If you can't find one at Toys-R-Us or Target, here's a place to buy a REAL AeroAce for $30 - complete with LiPo, counter-rotating props, semi-proportional throttle and steering, EPP indestructability.

http://www.aeroacemods.com/aam/

Buy the real thing; you won't regret it.

Best regards,
Rick

Thanks Rick! i have a question. is there 3 channels or is it 2 channel? and is it like push button controll or is it stick movement type controll?

It is two channel - and has a proper stick control. The best part is that it is easy to mod - like taking the spring out of the throttle stick. they are worth it just for the Lipo battery, motors and props.

and i saw some aero ace comercials on TV and they hade a jet with a single prop in the back of the jet. they showed it flying inside... any one know of that one?

Well, there is an X-Twin jet, as far as I know, only available in Europe so far. I suspect that the "Aeroace" jet is not a Silverlit/X-Twin product - possibly just another crappy AirHogs NIMH-powered rip-off.

It is confusing, because in the US, Silverlit products are marketed under the "AeroAce" brand-name - while everywhere else in the world they are called the Silverlit X-Twin.

It annoys me, because AirHogs own the "Aeroace" name - so they can slap it on any junk that's out there. Unfortunately, the X-Twin line has become known in the forums as "Aeroace."

If we referred to them as X-Twin, then there would be much less confusion.

Wow those 2 planes are real JUNK.. !

NIMH batt in plane, AND the TX is the same as the Wattage "micro flyer" Mini flyer rip off.. THE TX HAS ONLY 2 STEPS IN THROTTLE. Low and High.!

The real AeroAce has what 6 or 7 throttle steps.

I placed the order last night and today i didn't get an email from them as for shipping it. does it usualy take a day or two for them to ship it? I got an extra Lipo too with it. can't wait. I heard some things that it flys better with out the bottom wing? is that true? or will it fly faster?

Congrats on your purchase! You'll be happy with it. You bought from an enthusiast trying to share his love of the plane, not just a guy trying to make a buck, so I'd say it will probably be shipped very quickly.

Removing the lower wing does make it a bit faster. It seems more stable that way, too. The best part is that you can stick the wings back on for slow, close in flying.

If you want to read a whole history of AeroAce mods, check here:
http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=401484

Or better yet, for a categorized list of mods (with links to the above thread), look here:

I'd be lost without eflightwiki!!

Danny,

I'm sorry you're having the trouble with AeroAceMods. The Target and the TRU here in Charleston both have them for $30. I'd be happy to get one and send it to you, but we have a 9% sales tax and there's a 2% fee if we use PayPal. Add to that the cost of shipping it from 29420. It'll probably be $40 to $45 once you get it. I don't want to make any money on it - just what it costs me. If that's not too much, let me know, and I'll get one and ship it tomorrow. Also let me know if you have a color/channel preference.

They come in the following:
black and silver ch A
red ch B
blue ch C
blue and silver ch A
red and yellow ch B
orange and black ch C

I wouldn't give up on the one from AeroAceMods, but we can all use TWO AeroAces.

Best regards,
Rick

Hey guys! i'm about to give up on Aeroacemods.com. and on RCstation.com they have 3 NEW X-Twin planes! Should I order the Aero Ace bipe from them or one of the new ones???

RCstation.com doesn't have much on specs but it looks like one X-twin has single motor for power and rudder controll. i like that! but is it as good?

Hey folks, don't give up on AEROACEMODS.COM. We have been swamped with orders and we are fulfilling them. We have orders that are 4 days old, but are upgrading shipping to Next Day air free of charge. If you ordered a few days ago, you will most likely get your plane tomorrow or the next day. Probably even before UPS ground would have gotten it there!

The future is good. We have added additional staffing to help with the load. We are confident that we will be able to turn out orders same or next day 100% of the time going forward (but we always upgrade shipping if it doesn't make it out right away).

We haven't had much time to review the posts on RC groups lately, but will get back into that soon.

Those of you that have not purchased from us... Shipping per plane is $9.00. That is typically much lower than other sites. We offer spare parts and mod kits. If you call and get an answering machine, leave a message. We will call you right back.

Tip: If you add "Please Pre Test Flight" in the comments, we will test the plane before it ships out. This is great if you are sending as a gift, or just want to ensure that you get a great flyer.

Thanks for your orders!

Aero Ace Rocks!

well.. I did it.. Captain Fry, the fool who buys things that are undignified crap with wings even when prior warned (2 channel helicopter fame)

shes in the mail.. should get it mid next week.. i'll review when shes in the air... that or buzzing loudly on the ground in a circle like a sprayed fly with one wing :D

ordered it off ebay.. shes coming from sydney

Captain Fry
Jun 09, 2006, 01:37 AM
Well.. shes here.. bloody postman left it on the doorstep..
ive never had an aeroace before so this is my first of these things.. clone or not :)

The box.. yes.. hmmm

"LITHIUM BATTERY FOR LONGEST FLIGHT TIME!"
manual says its got a Ni-Mh battery.. but the warnings on the manual on the next page suggest Lipo.. it also tells me I charge for 6 minutes fly for 4 minutes.. which suggests Ni-Mh.. at this point im not willling to take it apart to find out.. but if she goes the way of the dragon.. this mysterious wonder will be found out :)

HX brand.. was hoping she wasnt.. doesnt exactly fill me with confidence.. I know HX's quality control is bad on everything.. that said.. my 2 channel chopper was actually ok.. once I repaired the tail rotor with a motor from a HX skywarrior-1 (syma super sonic)

the seller also says its lithium and flys for 10 minutes.. I didnt confirm this but I told him I wont be returning it. she'll be another notch in the ebay R/C collection stuffed into a draw in bits for spares when shes gone.. with or without flight :)

Controler:

one of these funny looking orange things that I guess was supposed to come with my supersonic clone when the box screamed FLY WITH ONE HAND!!.. and I then found a brick sized RX in the box.. this one I guess you could

No adjustment/pot/trim what so ever

Planes kind of cute though.. silver/blue and yellow.. they had a nice camoflarge one on the box.. but alas.. im not that lucky

the tail boom thingie whatever it is.. seems to be made of hard plastic. not sure if thats carbon fibre but its light and strong.. and the plane itself is EPP foam for sure.. manual recomends fixing with tape if it breaks

none of them bumps that the aeroace have on the wings.. instead they look more like injection mold marks with 5 little spikes in a circle

she actually came out of the box in perfect shape.. which suprised me somewhat

thats it for the pre flight check.. back in a few minutes with more :)

Captain Fry
Jun 09, 2006, 02:31 AM
ok.. first flight..
given that the skywarrior was the first plane I flew im proberly not qualified to judge how it flys.. since it didnt.. just nosed down heavy.. ive adjusted the appropriate tail surfaces

the controler as expected is a toggle on-off type.. no throttle control other than that.. up = full. down = medium.. wierdly enough the controler says that the down position = level flight but given that she falls like a rock unpowered or not.. thats proberly wise :)

had to press the "Electrification keystroke" to charge the plane and got the usual blinking light

first time I charged it the light actually decided to stay on after charge.. not off.. I think its timed.. and weather its a lipo or a Ni-Mh its timed for Ni-Mh

the antena on the plane is actually a very thin copper wire trailing out of the tail boom and extending almost to the end of the rear wings,

the manual funnyly enough says to throw it by gripping just before the landing gear.. well.. I guess its a boat then.. because all its got under the plane is foam.. im sure it floats well. but there aint no landing gear!

well!.. it flys. sort of.. since im unable to go to the local park today because its raining ive only got the lounge to use and the yard..

at this point it requires one hell of a throw to get airborne and stay that way
so i'd say no to the lipo.. i'll get more info tomorrow maybe

one thing though.. my skywarrior 1 flew better than this thing.. but it had bigger wings.. seems heavyer somehow than the skywarrior/supersonic

Captain Fry
Jun 09, 2006, 12:06 PM
General advisory and alert about these little planes..

after finding out my airframes defective in another thread and finding ways to fix it, I broke it trying to fix it.. but turns out the tail boom was just glued wrong at the factory.. poiinted upwards.. tail surfaces pointed down

BATTERY IS NOT LIPO!

after getting rather annoyed I ripped up the airframe and saved the electronics for the next time I buy a nice glider. which to be honest im sure looks better than the AA/clone ever did... and get into this AA/Xtwin alternate plane stuff

alas.. a 3 cell 1/4 AAA 80mah NI-MH greeted me -- totally contradicting the suprisingly good english on the box screaming LITHIUM BATTERY!!!!!.. but funnyly enough proving the enclosed manual correct...

all up... crap plane stock.. crap plane at all.. not happy with it.. BUT! if you dont mind the Ni-mh. it actually runs for a long time after a 25 minute charge.. and dont need proportional control for a glider project with AA clone electronics.. and you can get this cheaper than the AA. go for it..

one of the good things about it is the extra long antena.. and the 100ft range that I did test (on the ground)

ive also notified the ebay seller of this BS advertising

Looooeeee!
Jun 09, 2006, 03:47 PM
Thank you Captain for your sacrifice.. I've got a bunch of those 3 cell nimh packs, I keep thinking if I build a tiny WWI model I'll have the proper pack for nose weight.
