I really did not want to repost on a subject already brought up on other forums. But I am going to post this in as many places as I can until someone at IKARUS or maybe one of their Reps. gives the world an answer. Hey IKARUS is either not keeping up with any of the RC usergroups, or they are hiding something, or they just dont give a Dam*.

For weeks now I have been waiting for them to answer any post on any forum about AFPD compatability with the very popular new Spektrum DX6 radio. I have emailed vendors who sell this product, seeking an answer. Nothing but dead silence. Does anyone know why they refuse to inform the world if it will work or not. Is it a cheesy, underhanded plot to get as many sold to new customers who have these radios, before it gets out that they do not work? Or do they actually work on these radios? They very well could, nobody knows. But if they do, why not tell the public. I guess I will just have to order another brand, I have been emailing vendors and posting on forums and waiting for quite a while now. But hey I need a simulator now, that I can be sure works with my radio. How long would it take to type one sentence in a forum IKARUS?

Let me start by saying, "I don't have either."

My guess is, "Yes, a Spektrum DX6 transmitter should work with AFP through an AFP/JR adapter."

AFP connects to the trainer connector on any transmitter for which there is an adapter. The Spektrum radio specs list it as JR trainer compatible. What is special/different in a Spektrum from a JR is the RF section, the encoder is pretty much stock JR Pulse Position Modulation. The only issues should be channel order, but these would be the same issues with a JR transmitter.

I don't have a dx6 but i do have AFPD and a jr xp783. Post your exact message and i can probably tell you what is wrong. I can almost guarantee it is not the DX. i had horrible problems out of the box with AFPD because the adapter cable that came with it was faulty. Where did you get your copy of AFPD. Lots of us have had to send it back to Ikarus to get a new cable. Again post the exact error message.

Oh and the previous cable appeared to work fine outside of the game but wouldnt inside. The new cable works both out and in.

OK guys this is a very complex answer. I recieved the AFPD today via UPS. And have went about connecting wires and loading the program and all the hoops they jump you through. Be ready it will take a while to go through it. I can see now why IKARUS just could not just post a simple answer. On top of that my typing skills are not to good so I hope I dont exhaust myself, trying to bring the Question to a resolution. Here we go though. This is what all the trouble has beeen for. Ready?................

Yes.

Man that was tough, I'm exhausted. Whew, I think I will go practice flying on the AFPD some more. You can see how tough that would have been for IKARUS to do. Fly on guys. Oh Yeah if anyone see's my muddy friend tell him it did not come with any Joystick or game commander or anything but the wire.

This thing is really all I hoped it would be. I downloaded a program to emulate my Slow Stick. Anyone know how to import it to the program? OH I guess that should be a new post. Thanks again for all the interest shown guys. Your the best.

Do you think it might just have something to do with the fact that IKARUS are in Europe where the DX6 is not only not popular it's not even legal or available ? They've almost certainly never even seen one.

Then there's fact that Spektrum claim the DX6 trainer port is completely compatible with JR.....and AFPD has no problem working with JR. I'm glad your Tx works with AFPD but I'm not surprised. Unless Spektrum were telling fibs it was bound to ;).

Bottom line is that so long as the transmitters trainer port is outputting a standard PPM signal (ie 20ms frame sync pulse with channel pulses of 1-2ms width) then it will work with any of the flight sims via a suitable interface (or interlink controller). Often, where these "incompatibility" issues arise, is when a manufature chooses not to follow standard practices, or uses a different pin out on the ports.
