I bought an esky sim controller from ebay, it's also on the serial port connection. When it arrives (should be a few more days), I can guarantee you I'll find a way to make it work :D, and I'll let you know. Until then, good luck.

Generally 25pin serial ports are only found on old dinosaur PC's. Most PC's have a 9 way D type connector for serial ports. The other possible connector *may* be is a parallel port connector that plugs into the printer port on the PC.

The other issues is that you don't state what operating system you are using. If its XP then you will probably need some form of driver as XP does not allow direct communications with the ports for this sort of thing. PPJOY is one possible solution, and entering PPJOY into any search engine will provide loads of download mirror sites.

If the lead is indeed a serial connector, and not a parallel port connector, then best advice would be to throw it away and get one of the USB transmitter to PC interfaces. - lot less hassle, no drivers required and will work with more than just FMS - prices start from around £30 (less in the US)

Malc, you're always a step ahead of me on the sim forum. :D lol

Well I got my 9 pin sim controller in the mail today, and set it up in under a minute. Absolutely painless. This may be because I already had FMS installed and had "winmm.dll" from SmartPropoPlus. HUBSonDUBS, just in case you found a way to connect your cable (though from what Malc C said I doubt you did), here's what I did.

1) Plug cable in the back of the computer
2) Open FMS, select controls, analog
3) Check resources, nothing had to be changed (it was 9600 and COM1)
4) In mapping I had to change pretty much all the channels, and invert some of them (if you get this far and get stuck just ask me)
5) Calibrate
6) Fly

Simple. I hope you get your cable working or find a newer one. Good luck. :)
