My son and I are building a quick and dirty airboat this evening. Nearly done with the hull, in about 2 hours. Since this is our first boat, especially from scratch without plans and no idea what were doing other than an idea, we may need a touch of advice.

Its a V hull, about 30" front to back (bow to keel maybe?) Anyway, Im slapping a S-400 brushed on it with a 5x5 prop. The three major things I need to know are: Where should I balance it, roughly? Do I need up,down, left or right thrust in the motor for a pusher configuration? And should I run it with a rudder in the water, an air rudder, or have the motor actually turn left and right for directional control (will any of these work as well as another?)

were not expecting much out of this, just killin a couple hours building something other than planes and helis. As I said, its a down and dirty boat build just for fun.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

1. aprox. 30-35 % from transom
2. try square & straight first
3. if it sits deep on the trans i would go with the water rudder , if its on top ,
air rudder or thrust vector will work ok
4. depending on your hull & being a throw together boat use your battery to balance the boat is needed

Becareful the airboat fever mite get you lol & good luck with your airboat
