Since I'd rather play pickup sticks with my buttcheeks than buy
or use a Microsoft product, I was wondering if anyone got Real
Flight working on Linux (presumably with the Windows emulator
"wine")?

following up w/ myself (that can't be healthy can it?), but I found a very
cool opensource simulator called CRRCsim:
http://crrcsim.sourceforge.net/
Many of the stock models are gliders and there's training mode to identify
thermals, but the other planes are realistic. It's missing heli's but they're
not my bag. Since it's opensource, naturally it runs on Mac, Linux and
even Windows.

IIRC, X-Plane has a Linux version. A couple of RC planes are available for it.
