Hi Guys,
After looking into the aerocomm 2.4GHz 100mW modules ,I decided that the price of 100$ a piece is too much for what you get.
One can buy a simple 1mW 2.4GHz transceiver IC and boost the Output.
I found the Maxim max2240 that looks like it can do the job.
Has anyone tried to boost a 1mW 2.4GHz signal with this chip or any other way?
Did anyone try the Nordic IC from Spark Fun?
Any help in this matter will be appreciated.

I boosted a 1mW 2.4Ghz video transmitter to 50mW using the Linx BBA-322 (http://www.linxtechnologies.com/) module. It worked very well. However, I did not have to use a Transmit/Receive RF switch like your transceiver will need. That will certainly add to the complexity.
EVERYTHING matters when working at microwave frequencies. So be sure to observe strict RF rules. For example, circuit board layout can be very cruel at these frequencies. I think that unless the designer has substantial microwave RF experience, building a successful system from IC components is probably going to be a significant challenge. Ready to use modules are your friend. :)

I have done it in the past but it was 10 times more heavy than the units of today. I would not do it now !

This works very well, is bi-directional, and includes a low noise preamp for RX:

The gain and output power exceed the spec.

Guys, thanks for all your help!
Mr RC-CAM, will I need an RF switch if I use a ready to use module from spark fun with a nordic IC and the PA you mentioned?

If the module is a transceiver, and uses the same antenna for transmit/receive, then you will need a T/R switch on the RF path. If that is the case, it would be much less troublesome to find a RF module that has the power you need built into it.
