Hi
Can anybody tell me how to set up my clearview heli params to make it more sluggish like my real Honeybee FP heli, I can fly the micro heli in CV no probs but it is a lot more lively than my own heli and this is a bit off putting when i come to fly my heli and it is not as lively

Maybe you'll like your virtual heli more than the real one.

No way its just that practice makes perfect and it would help if the heli sim was a little more like the heli i fly. I am not knocking CV its just that my heli is slower to react than CV helis

In what sort of ways is your heli slower? There are a number of things that can slow response or dampen it. You would need to take a look at the advanced settings. For example the 'easy' models are setup differently to their normal equivelents. So you could compare the two sets to see the sort of things that slow the model responses. You may find it easier using a text editor so you can see both side by side (look for params.txt in the model directory.

Some things though that might help:
cycExpo is cyclic exponential increase the value to deaden centre response.
blademass increasing will make the rotor disk more reluctant to move.
cyclicPower decreasing it will lower response to control input but more likely to have the heli get away from you unless other values are changed to compensate.

Even reducing throttle curves, topMainRotRPM (max rotor speed) etc can have effects.

Is there another model in ClearView that flys similar to your model? We can use that as the basis for creating custom flight parameters.

We can try to help here or you can try emailing using the support address on the ClearView site and Stefan can help you adjust parameters, especially to increase realism on models.

I have tried the most sluggist, , i.e. cyclic rate at the lowest, 1%, but it is still too responsive.

I cannot even control it easily during freeflight.

Can you reduce the minimum setting to even lower than 1%, say 0.01%?

At the moment Clearview will not allow this because I had tried reducing it to 0.1% but no effect at all, but no error message whatsover.

I was told by a seasoned heli RC pilot that simulators are not good because it is too sensitive but it is actually easy to cure. Only let users put the values as low as a computer cn take.

Limiting it to 1% minimum is just not enough.

Copy TRex normal that you want to use in a new directory under models.
Get into advanced settings and change these parameters as here:
cyclicPower 30.0
tailRotorPower 50.0
governorOn 0.0
bladeMass 0.3
throtCurve1 0.0 0.25 0.5 0.75 1.0
throtCurve2 0.0 0.25 0.5 0.75 1.0
loPitch -6.0
hiPitch 6.0
pitchCurve1 3.0 3.0 3.0 3.0 3.0
pitchCurve2 3.0 3.0 3.0 3.0 3.0
mainBladesDiam 0.5
modelWeight 0.5
cycExpo 0.15
rudExpo 0.25

It will fly as fixed pitch and is sluggish.

Thanks,

The best way to get softer responce is to lower the head speed, made blades heavier and lower the blade diameter (in that order). You can stop at any step if it feels right. The cyclic responce is function to these variables first. Changing the cyclics only is like changing the servo rates. If the heli setup is hot, with realy hard head, light blades and high RPM, lowering the rates will not change the basic behavior.

The key to selecting proper parameters is to use the same approach as when setting up a real helicopter.

It is the servo rates that I want to change. The PC PS/2 joystick is too sensitive and I cannot change its scale or sensitivity. Maybe a RC Radio is less sensitive but I doubt it.

If I make the blades or body heavier, it will be a different heli altogether. It is much easier to emulate the servo rates as in real RC helis.
