Folks,
I have a Saito 72 4 cycle powered Pizzaz. It weighs 5 1/2 pounds and has 752 sq inches of wing area I'd like to convert to electric power. Currently uses a 13/6 prop which is fine.

Any suggestions on motor/ESC/prop/battery?

Good/better/best combos?

Thanks!

Dave

Hi there,

Have a look at something like the axi 2820/12 which is rated for models up to 2.5kgs or if you want a bit more go have a look at the AXI 4120/14. As for an ESC a 40 amp for the both.

I could be wrong though.

Cheers Joel

Do you have a link to it?

I'm looking at:
AXI 4120/14
4S1P 4400 Lipo
Jeti +70 ESC
13/10E prop
How much flight time would this give? I KNOW it's an open question..just interested in 5-7 or 8-10 or whatever in minutes.

Thanks for your help!

Pictures as promised.
Firewall needed modified for the 4 #8 blind nuts, (2) 3/16 holes for the Jeti tywrap, (2) 5/8" dia cooling air holes, and the slot enlarged for the wires to pass thru. Drilled out the AXI mount to accept #8-32 by 2" bolts and got some 3/8 dia by 1 1/2" spacers. About an hour later, the motor is installed. I may add a scoop on the bottom to provide additional cooilng air. MotoCalc says about 40A (600W) and the 4S1P 4400Mah PQ pack is good for 52A continous. I'll build a battery tray with a lot of holes to allow cooling air. Retain the battery with velcro.

Wadda think?
