Today I finished my first knuffel. If all goes well I will be demonstrating the plane in an auditorium at our university. I like the simple and strong construction using depron and carbon elements. The EPP nose seems a good idea and the paint scheme is too heavy but I like it. I am not yet used to building such light structures with depron, but it is lots of fun to try new building techniques. All up weight is 170gr. Typhoon 3/3D.
the water drop effect is quite simple to achieve. I spray the depron with real water befor spraying on the paint from some distance. If the depron is left to dry in peace the effect is quite cool

I like the water drop idea! I might try that.
Thanks,

It is quite easy to do, but I am not sure how much weight the model puts on because of the paint. Next time I will weigh the unpainted depron before. The water drops can be sprayed on with a spray used for plants, the drops should be uniformly placed on the depron. I would practise on some depron befor starting on a plane. The paint I use is specifically for styropor or depron and may need a coating of transparent varnish to fix the pattern after the water dried. Still it is a very simple way to get an intresting finish without an airbrush :)

I like the water drops.
Did you spray both the yellow and the red while the water was still on the plane or did you spray one colour and then put the water down?

I start with the water drops, then the yellow and then the red. I f you use other colors you should test which one you use first. I found that the yellow looks better with yellow drops with a little red. The trick is that the effect is best in the border areas of the colour, where the color spray is indirect. In the area where one color is dominant the water drops still make a effect. As the water evaporates the drop shrinks and the white depron comes forwared. It may be an idea the paint a color first, then add the waterdrops and then add the other color. There the problem is that you are covering the area twice. It is a simple method that woks surprisingly well. Just get some scrap depron and fire away :)

Here is some pictures from our day at the university. The flying display itself was recorded on video, but not yet released. 550 Spectators and no accident. We took along enought things, so that it worst comes to worst we would be able to make major repairs befor the show.
