Quick question if possible,
Im about to purchase the TopFlite P-40 E...... I think, and I have a Saito 150 just kinda laying around :( a shame aint it?, . My question is would this engine be tooooooo much power for that warbird, or not enough? Im new to the whole building aspect of all of this but if im gonna jump in and get my feet wet then might as well go all out.
Thanks,
Keith

Well, it wont be underpowered ;). Im not positive, but you may actually want to beef up the firewall area for that engine.

I've got one that I am building also. Based on everything I've looked at, it is essential to keep the weight down due to the flying characteristics. More power is okay as long as you're not adding too much weight. Personally, I think a 1.50 is too big. I've also heard that if you fiberglass the plane it will be tail heavy and need weight in the nose. I think I'd rather add weight that can help, like a bigger engine. Let me know how it works out. I'm putting a .75 2-stroke in mine without retracts. I do plan to fiberglass though. Good Luck.

I fly Mine on an O.S. .91 Surpass II 4 stroke and a 14x8 APC it weighs in at 10.5 lbs with Robart retracts/struts Robart 121 tailwheel and 3/8" air cylinder and Flaps. Flies like it is on rails with plenty of power. A Saito 1.50 will make it really rock but the weight gain will make it harder to fly. I say go with a lighter engine and keep the tail light to keep the weight down. also My 1st one was a spinning fool (as in wouldn't recover) at 13 lbs. with an O.S. 1.08 2 stroke. too heavy and way too much power for the airframe. an O.S. 1.20 Surpass 2 or a Saito FA 1.25 would be the absolute ,max match up.
