Ahhh yes! My weekly shot of HDI and it looks like it was a great day for them. I like Mikes boat. Havn't seen that one before and the visitors tug is nice too. Pretty calm for the sheetboats so not much action there. As usual I enjoyed this weekly posting of action pictures from Hansen Dam Irregulars. Pete

hay there Kmot, forgive me but im still learning the way you have them wired gives longer run time not double the power, also you have 2x 4cell 5000, i have 2x 2cell 5000 same brand, what power difference is the 2cell to the 4cell they both say 5.0.thanks for help, jerry. :)
Kmot
Oct 27, 2009, 11:12 AM
14.8V, 10 Amps versus your 14.8V, 5 Amps.
HYDROJERRY
Oct 27, 2009, 11:21 AM
ok so how does the 10amps come in to play, does that mean just longer run time then 5a or is it more power going into the esc. foregive me im trying .
Kmot
Oct 27, 2009, 11:29 AM
Both, actually. :)
Kmot
Oct 27, 2009, 04:34 PM
So, I installed the new batteries in the B-28, placed it in the water, and blipped the throttle.
The flex cable immediately detached it self from the prop shaft.
Kmot
Oct 27, 2009, 08:30 PM
I tried silver soldering the flex cable back into the drilled out end of the propshaft. It would not stick. I ended up using J-B Weld. It will cure overnight and hopefully stay stuck together.
Hey, the weather seems to be cooling off, and it's plenty windy right now. Should be a good day at the lake this coming Thursday.

Is that the motor end? Why not put a uni there?
Rex R
Oct 27, 2009, 08:50 PM
folks have been using 'lock-tite #603'* to join prop stubs to; flex shafts or piano wire...
*I hear that 'bearing and sleeve retainer' also works
Kmot

That's what probably had been used before.

No room.
Pictures? Can you make a coupling? Is the motor inline with the shaft output?
tsenecal
Oct 27, 2009, 10:17 PM
kmot...
welcome to the club.
don't over torque the cable... you might have too much motor for the cable... you might want to drop down to a smaller prop....
rust is your enemy
and finally, hope this helps:

Kmot
Oct 27, 2009, 10:18 PM
It's inline okay. I could get a new shaft and just stick it into the coupler. But, there definitely is no room for a uni.

Hi Kmot,
88 amps, that's very impressive for 1 motor, Its taken me four 700's to get to that level
Hi Bob,
Hobby king I reckon, banner at very top of RC groups, 3 people in our club have these batteries now, so far so good, the price is right too:D

Thanks Nick. Actually, it hit 98A yesterday during the quick full throttle test.
Bob, I got them from Hobby King as Nick thought.
I have also changed my Novak Smart Saver jumper wire from 16GA to a 12GA wire since yesterdays test. Might be a small benefit there.

hay Kmot, i see your running two bats at one time and you test with your watts up meter did you cut your wires to hook it up or does your set up have a connection between the two bats to the esc.i have a new wattsup but all my boats have two battery set up so to use it i would have to cut before my esc and install deans but i dont want to cause loss of power.:)

HDI LIGHT
The turnout today was very light. The weather was awesome, but perhaps the wind scared some away.
Present were Capn's Brad, Larry, Mark, Pat, Vic, and myself.
Mark had a classic Kyosho Waverunner that he had refurbished and painted in Lifeguard colors. He also had a new Aquacraft "Mini-Thunder" classic shovelnose hydro. You will notice there is a huge difference between his version and the stock livery. Mark does awesome work on everything.
Vic had a Reef Racer.
Brad had his deep-vee speedboat and Springer. "Triple A Brad" was needed a lot today.
Pat had his Springer and he also was needed to perform rescues today.
I ran my B-28 and after 1 1/2 laps the pinion gear grub screw loosened and so I had to be the one they rescued. It failed in the middle of the lake just as avidjeepr had predicted.
The winds were very strong and the water very choppy so rescue work was difficult but the two Springer Capn's performed admirably.
Before the gear failure my B-28 GPS'd @ 36.7MPH and I think on flat water and no chop from the wind it will probably be capable of 40MPH.
It was really an excellent day, in particular for drying out the laundry and it was surprising no sheetboaters arrived.
Cap'n Larry aka Prop'er handled the photog duties today.

that aint choppy water, smooth as a babies butt.
1 foot of snow and 14 degrees up here, ah, the wind 20 miles per hour.

Schrott: I think all the weight in the bottom of the hull, when the boat started to roll, kept it in motion and made it roll all the way over.

a 642 is about equal to what proboat puts on the fastech and the bj26 ep. so it wouldn't surprise me much if that is what they are putting on the widow maker.
