This is pretty amazing, I just found this NASA developed code that was developed with taxpayer dollars, and apparently is therefore free. Check it out

http://fun3d.larc.nasa.gov/chapter-1.html#s1

I have filed a request for a copy. It looks like it will be hell to get it running with my current knowledge, but hwere else can you get this kind of capability without spending thousands of dollars?

Unfortunately, because the software is cutting edge, there is an export restriction. You need to be a "US person" to recieve it.

What do you think? It even has hyupersonic capability, and they are working on making that available to the public, so next time you build a mach 7 model, you can take some of the guesswork out ;)

Looks cool, keep us up to date on how it works. Im curious whether its just a solver or a full CFD program

There is a form under "place a request for FUN3D" or something like that in the sidebar.

That is impressive. Can anyone guess what the upper far right attachment image is? My guess is some sort of rotary wing thing in forward flight, or a ...

My computer display's them differently, but the blue object that looks like it has clouds streaming off of it is a light GA heli.

I should be getting a laptop in a couple of months, so I am trying to get it with a dual core Intel, and will probably set it up for dual boot linux.
