I have just been given a KA6E 1/5 scale sailplane manufactured by Rodel Modellbau. I do not know the age but it looks fairly old. The wings are in very bad shape construction wise and I think it would be easier to build new ones.
The problem I have is that the plans do not give a profile of the ribs with which to make a template- there are 32 different ribs per wing. Does anyone have a plan showing all the rib profiles ,or can you offer a suggestion as how to go about fabricating a new wing?
The dimensions are as follows:

KA6E
1/5 scale
Wing span 3200 mm. ( 126 in. )

Thanks

I do believe the Rodel model uses an E392 airfoil. You could go to a web site called www.nasg.com and print a copy of the airfoil. From there you could scale up or down (on a fotocopier for example) different size rib templates. I'm doing this to build a copy of the NSP KA-6 2meter model. I cant think of an easier way at this moment...hope this helps...wayne

Thanks Wayner
I see under utilities there is a download called TraCfoil , it looks as though it would print out a full set of ribs if I am reading it correctly, however I am not sure if the E 392 airfiol is avail. I looked at the E392 airfoil profile , Is this the diagram that you use for fabricating ypour ribs/

What I have been doing is taking the rib profile and just sizing it up or down for tapered wings. I guess I'm assuming that its the same rib profile for the whole length of wing. I couldn't find anything in my research to tell me different. I'll try that program when I get some time....wayne
