I understand that the wing surface on a model get smaller but the air mass stays the same, but I was wondering about compresion lift on a model.I'm not sure if it can only happen at supersonic flight, or if it would work with sub-sonic airflows. I'm not looking at making a XB-70/71. Something more on the line of a small delta sport with a forward area with cannard. I have been trying to draft a tip fold down system, but I need to fly some of the designs to see if I have it figured out.I'm just not sure if I need to dial in controle throws if the compresion actualy works on sutch a small wing surface. If it does make a differance I am thinking smaller down throw for controle surface entering the compresion and larger up throw to counteract the natural stability caracteristics of compresion. As you can guess I still have alot of math to work out, but if it's not going to make mutch of a differance my math isn't going to ba as tough.Would apreciate input from those that have made a XB-70/71 that had folded wing tip, and what they expirienced when the tips went down. I know I spell like a drunk 6 yearold so please excuse the spelling.
Thanks for any input you have in advance, and sorry for the long winded question.

P.S. My normal test wing is 48"-60"foam rib construction.I take a Wally world foam model and slice the wing along the cord to make quick ribbs and thread a CF rod to tie it together.Makes for quick build for testing my many {you didn't think that would realy fly did you} designs.400 motor and folding pusher.Makes my controled crash landing style more survivable for the model.:D

Sorry blurtie, compression lift is only found in the supersonic world. You have to trap that big pressure wave that forms around the airplane.

I couldn't remember if it was an supersonic only form of lift and thrust. Gosh darn and golly gee wilikers.Mutch apreciate the input. H-E-double hockey sticks.Ahh well on to another project.

A form of compression lift does exist in the subsonic world, but you have to fly lower than 1.5 x wingspans of the ground to get it. Pelicans use it to extend their glides over water, and Reno air racers do it as the extra lift reduces darg slightly, letting them go faster.

If you're interested in such things, have a look at

www.se-technology.com/wig/

for info on wigs (wing in groundeffect) such as the Ekranoplan
