Well with today's wind (and knowing that I couldn't go after work) I just couldn't help myself.... I had to try some "Lunchtime Sloping".

You can see from the pic that at around lunchtime I had WNW winds of about 8mph with gusts up to 13mph but they seemed at least 5mph higher than that where I was.

So with my Mighty Mini-Weasel in hand I headed over to Oakwood College. On the East side of Wynn Drive near Adventist Blvd. There is a good size hill that you can drive to the top of and it opens up from West through North. Perfect right? Nope :(

I'm bummed to say that although there was plenty of wind to keep a Mini-Weasel aloft, and it was in the right direction, the hill doesn't have "a face" that forces the air upwards. The hill is pretty much just a smooth gradual rise. Without "a face" I couldn't keep the Mini-Weasel aloft for more than about 30seconds :(

Anyone else have an idea as to where we could lunchtime slope?

Todd,
I slope the pond bank by the NG site.
You will have to put the weasl on a diet and tape the wings to give it a smooth finish.

The south end is good as well a the north bowl.

Its very different from the quarry style of flying as you have a narrow lift band and there is not much alt to work with.

I fly the little pink wing (4-5oz.) and Zagi THLs(7-8oz.) there.

My Combat Weasel will need more than a diet, she'll need liposuction!

With fangs ready, she tilts the Bantam weight class at 6.5oz, but she packs a mean punch for a little gal.

Don,
Do you think that the miniPinky is light enough to slope the banks for the NG site?
