Hi,
I´ve got a bunch of Cd motors and I would like to know what do you guys think about usingthem for F3P. I have frm 18-22mm. Also I have a GoBrushless 22mm, how shouls I wound it? I will be using a Hyperion 3S/2S 300XP(up to 6A , but I only really delivers 4.8A) 31g/23g, or a Polyquest 3S 300 HP (3.2 amps max) and only 23g.
I believe I will use a 7x3,5 or a 8x4.7
Thanks

Fwilly, calling Dr Fwilly?
I've flown his 20mm CD Rom based motors for 2 cells. His power system is just right for the lightweight demands of a proper F3P airplane.

Matchless,
Just curious if you have ever used the Westport and what you thought of it. I just got one of the 25 turn ones for a mid-sized (25") Ballerina that I hope to build at 5 ounces or less.

I'm not really into 3s, but I do have one 20mm GB wound for 3s, and its 16 turns of 25 awg in star. You can do the same with a 22mm, but going down to a 20mm GB will save you around 4 grams. If you post pics of the motors you have, it would help. I've built several from dead drives, and if you happen you have one I've built, then I could give you a number of turns that would work.

fwilly, I don't suppose you sell your motors? Do you have anything that weighs 11 grams?

The only motor I make for sale weighs 16g. It is built from 20mm GB parts and is what I used on my freestyle plane.
I have a couple 12g motor, but they're made from a dead drive, and I can't get a regular supply of the parts to make them for sale.

I will take some pictures of them. I´ve lightned one of them to 16g but performance was not ok. Is there any winding for a GB 22mm to get more then 200g at less then 3,2A(3S if possible with 2....)?

I haven't tested thrust in a while, but I think 16 turns of 25 awg with a 7x3.5 would do what you want. Just a guess based on my experience with a 20mm with 16 of 25, though.

Just got my pair of micro-rex 220 motors from Germany. Man they are tiny!!
They are 11 grams apiece and look like they could drop right in my 20mm cans and get lost. I have a couple of Mantas ready and one testbed Superstar to try these in. By the way, I put those airdams on the Superstar ailerons like the ones on the Mantas, and it is wierd how effective they are. I anticipated less. I will report more on the motors tomorrow, when I get them on a plane. Free Willy, Your flight video from awhile back is great. You have that smooth controlled thing happening like the Europeans. I h;ope more of the flying here in the US starts going that way.
