DO YOU KNOW THE POWER OF WATER, it can cruch the model in a second. I have seen what a breaker can do to a regular 26 foot boat. Split it and kill people. To try and due something like that, why don't you just throw your money into the TRASHCAN. That's where the model will probably wind up the first day out. If you want to get bait out, try a surfing pole, which is designed for that purpose.

wilton0,
Haven't seen any bait-boats for sale in the US but have in other countries. Most I've seen here have been built by the user, and used in inland water. Depending on just how much surf you have, it may/may not be very practical. Not sure which forum it was on but saw a thread about one being built not all that long ago...

You could always try a submarine if your intent is just to run your line out a ways from the beach, but I have no idea what it would entail to build a submersible that could handle surf. Personally, I think you'd have more luck with a modified pneumatic launcher of some sort...

Maybe a motorized Boogie Board or something can can drive equally as well right side up or upside down... it could be done.

As long as you can keep it boyant, self righting or universal steering (steers no matter which way it's rolled around) it can work. The pump drive as Carcharadon is using on his Nautilus might be able to handle the gunk you can run into out in the surf. Here's his link...

If you went with the floatation device (boogie board or other impossible to sink object) method, you'll have other issues to deal with besides gunk...

Maybe a large plastic Kayak, filled with floatation foam, self-righting ballast, a couple of 15A ¼hp motors from http://www.batteryspace.com (I have two of these large motors myself and they can be adapted to RC) direct driving some large scale props. A big rudder wouldn't hurt either, maybe outriggers... it might work just fine, even in moderate surf, but all bets are off on the heavy stuff, water is very unforgiving en masse.

(there are other places to get the larger DC motors from as well, just suggesting them because they can handle a pounding better than the smaller hobby size motors we normally use.)

When the wind is blowing out to sea, tie a blown up balloon on to a 3 way swivel and the wind will drag the balloon and your bait out without injuring the bait.

Plus, when the balloon goes down and stays down. BINGO !!
