Hi, I'm entirely new to gliders but not new to electric flight. Been flying for more than 3 years. I own 6 brushless planes and I realy enjoy every minute of it.

A friend of mine is starting with gliders and he would like to create some regulations in regards to power gliders competition. He asked for my advice regarding limting factors for all competitors since I'm familiarized with electric flight and lipo power. I suggested creating different categories according to battery pack configuration. I think most will be using lipos so my idea was to create 2s, 3s and even 4s classes. I thought it is more relevant to limit pack voltage than motor/prop size.

I would like to know what some of your opinions are. Sorry I did not take the time to read all threads on this matter. There are so many!

Thanks in advance

Here in Wisconsin, we have a number of flyers who are flying in what we call a "Club Elexaco" competition. More information at this thread:

Club Elexaco (http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=496556&highlight=+elexaco+)

These are simple airplanes, kits and ARFs are avaialble. All use a standard 400 sized electric motor, same battery and prop. All have the same wing aspect ratio. The competition in 2005 was a blast. Three clubs in Wisconsin are joining to form a "triangular" meet this year.
