Unfortunately Depron is not available in Japan. I want to buy one, too!
'Stylen paper' is close and available at various DIY store or art material shop, but it is different. Some import from DepronUSA with extraordinaire shipping cost...

I get some similar stuff at the home centre "sekichu" or cainz home" it is heavier than depron but still useable. 5mm 0r 8mm. Also look for a foam paper. It is a foam sandwiched between paper, peel the paper off and you are left with some foam sheet about 4mm thick and its light and easy to bend/fold into shapes with a hair dryer or just build a shocky FF. Also try the 100yen shop, look up at the signs showing where the goods are. Art shops also have 5mm coloured styreen paper, can be expensive.
Quick Japan also sells styreen paper in 1000yen box of 5 sheets 3 and 5mm

OK, Tokyu Hands sellsスチレンペーパ but they also sell something called ミラボー, at least that is what the item tag says. I think its really ミラボード though. What is the diffrence between these two products. I like the ミラボー because I can get it im much larger sheets than I can the スチレンペーパ. Is one product heavier than the other? Are the both styrene?

Hi Seric
I'm not sure what the difference is or which is heavier.

Hi Seric
I'm not sure what the difference is or which is heavier.
What you building?
A much larger one of these (http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=476593&page=4)
to for use with "Yellow Bee" electronics. I have already built the smaller version with the スチレン paper, but at Tokyu Hands they don't sell larger sheets than B4. If I go the ミラボード I can get in HUGE :D sheets. On the surface it appears to be the same subtance, it has the same texture as well. Its a little bit cheaper (not much though) so maybe it's a heavier type of styrene.
P.S.
I did some seaching around and here is a little info on it, although I can't read it all. Mira board (http://www.miraboard.com/youto/list.html). It appears that it is styrene "表面の平滑性が良い、スタンダードな発泡スチレンボード"。I am going to buy a sheet and compare weights with the paper brand.

You can buy large sheet of Stylen Paper (1, 2, 3, 5mm) at Yuzawa-ya. I got mine at their Tsudanuma-shop. (Not in model but in art section.)

I ordered Depron alternative from Korea. Let's see how good they are.

Satoru, just wondering what you thought of the 'depron' you got from Korea? I'm thinking of building my first foamy and want to order some.

hi! Satoru,
I regret to have had to close the website, foamy-builders.com.
We had to send a centain number of packages per month for the postal service discount. However, the volume of orders was not enough to keep the number, so we had to end our business.
We still have some amount of Boardlong products, both Stiff and Plain.
If your friends or you need some, I can ship.
The actual price of one sheet is less than 1 dollar, but the shipping cost is really high by air. By sea, it is lower as you know.
I am sure that you cannot find any products like our Plain Boardlong, which has light weight, in Korea because it was the custom-made.
Since our website is closed, it's difficult to get the product information. I will find any solution for it.
Now, we have been developing a somewhat different type of fun parkflyers. Please visit our new website. If you click on the product image, you are going to get some more information. However, the products are still under development. :D

P.S: It seems very difficult to find japanese R/C airplane distributors. I heard that the cell-phone is the much stronger tool for shopping than internet in Japan.

Hello june8,
Thank you for your advice. I was wondering about your site. Yes, there are few more friends looking to buy Depron, mostly for indoor planes. It is good to hear you can supply them. I will talk to them.
Yes, I saw photo of your new 'bird'... It is very unique I would say! Is it molded? It looks very carefully designed.
R/C distributors? Traditional distributors are like Irisawa or Tamaya. They advertise in Japanese R/C magazine like Rajikon Gijyutsu. But they are too traditional and newer supplier such as Air Craft, enRoute are doing better.
Yes, mobile phone shopping is popular. But for R/C staff, internet shopping or traditional store front sales is more common.

Thanks Satoru,
Recently, I have only 3mm thick Boardlong and can supply at 50 cents/sheet.(This is not the official rate, but for clearance and for shipping to Japan)
The sheet size is 890X400mm, and maximum sheets are 50 due to the postal size limit. The shipping method and charge is your choice. The fastest way is EMS by the international postal service, and the cheapest way may be by sea. I recommend you to order many sheets at once and share with your friends.
I appreciate your comment for the 'bird', 'Flying Hen' :) Yes, it is molded from HANACELAN foam which is almost same with Elapor foam(Multiplex). However, we are also carefully considering EPP foam.
One of the farm series is scheduled to be launched in this summer. We are doing our best to make it safe, durable, and stable.
What do you think about it? Are you willing to purchase this product if it is in the market? Some people in Korea said "Yes! Our kids must like it. Also, it is going to make the gallery happy."
However, others commented "Hmmm... It looks quite interesting, but I would rather choose the products like an airplane."
I really need quite honest comments because Japan is one of the biggest markets, and your comment is very valuable to forecast the market.
Also, I again deeply appreciate the information about the distributors in Japan that you gave me. I am trying a plan to visit Tokyo soon.

The RcFarm Hen Flyer looks very interesting. Can you tell me what your MSRP will be? :D I certainly don't consider myself to be an expert of Japanese RC market at all, but I think the natural target of your product is younger fliers (under 14). When I lived in the U.S. I went to fun-flies and meets a lot and there were often many younger fliers, but in Japan I haven't seen many at all.
