Anyone know the pin-outs of the JR 9X Tx module??? I want to hook up some custom electronics to the output signal and supply it with power from these pins.

It is as follows (from top to bottom)
MOD
Vreg
Vcc
GND
Ant
where, Vcc is the voltage on the TX battery pack, and Vreg is 6V supplied by the TX.

Brilliant, thanks!! 1W home made spread spectrum here we come! This should give about 1km radius with omnidirectional antenna. Do you guys in the USA have regulations preventing a 1W transmitter in the 900MHz band? Here is SA, our GSM network operates at this fequency so i can only 'test' this solution - no commercial opportunity, but the USA may be able to use it legally.

In the USA, all RF devices other than Amateur Radio equipment must be
certified to the FCC. This requires extensive testing with some expensive
equipment. 1W is legal for RC. Even Amateur Radio RC transmitters are
limited to 1W however. I believe that with certification more power is
allowed in the 900Mhz band. There are all kinds of industrial and paging
systems in the 900Mhz band in the USA, so it is heavily congested and
prone to interference. Even the noise floor for Spread Spectrum would be
pretty high.
