Has anyone tried the new Spektrum DX-6 2.4ghz and Reflex XTR? If so how does it work out?
TIA,
Ed

Can't say I've personal experience of that TX, but it doesn't matter what transmition system is used as XTR uses the PPM signal from the trainer socket. So if your TX has a standard trainer port that outputs a PPM signal then it should work.

Below is the response that I got from Reflex on the following two questions ..
1 --- Will XTR work with the new Elite 6 transmitter that is bundled with the CenturyHeli Hummingbird V3 RTF ?
2 --- I will be purchasing one of the new Spektrum DX6 radios very soon, will XTR support this DSM output in the near future ?
Answer below ....
Dear Louis,
the Eilte 6 will work just fine with our connection cable for E-Sky and Honeybee-transmitters.
We did not test the Spektrum DX6 yet, but it is compatible to JR radios.
This means, it will defenitaly work with our simulator, connected with our connection cable for JR radios.
With best regards,
Florian Raabe

Hi LouieB,
Why the bump? I am still waiting for confirmation the Spektrum Tx works with XTR Reflex. I know the JR cable is compatible with the Spektrum trainer plug but I will not buy until I get confirmation from the company it has tested the Tx or from a user who tells us it works.

Ed,
Mostly to keep it on the front page for others to view the response from Reflex that I posted and in hopes that someone who is using the Spektrum with Reflex will post about it. This forum is not highly active and I was just trying to increase the odds that an infrequent guest will notice the title and post their experience.
I have been looking for a post I saw somewhere else, and I can not find it, that the Spektrum training port did not work on DSM but works on FM/PPM, I have never been able to verify if that is true.
Even though Reflex states that Reflex XTR will work with the D6, like you, I will continue to wait on my purchase until it is confirmed. I am bound and determined to have a D6, but not if it does not work with Reflex.

The thing is if you all wait around for someone else to take the plunge, and none of you are willing to try it then you'll be bumping this post forever :)
Why don't one of you phone a large retailer that sells XTR and ask if you can bring your TX along and get them to try it with a view to committing to a purchase if its proved to work. If they can't demo it in the shop, then ask them if there is a 7 or 14 day return policy should you find out it isn't compatible with your TX.
I repeat, if your TX's send a standard PPM signal out from the trainer port then there is no reason whay it won't work. I can confirm that the Elite 6 does use send a PPM signal, but I have no experience with the DX-6 transmitter

Malc_C ...
Send me the money and I will take the plunge.
I have emailed Spektrum and they did not know, you have read the reply I received from Reflex. The 1 LHS and the 1 that is 30 miles from me sell only G3 but do sell the D6 and they do not know if D6 and Reflex work with each other.
As far as returning something, I know of no US business that will take opened software back and the LHS may take back the D6, but you can be certain that it will be at a heavy loss to me.
As far as bumping, I did not intend to bump this post but the one time that I did. This forum does not get a lot of activity and I was just trying to help someone out. I have an Optic 6, it works with Reflex, it would be nice to know if another modeler were using Reflex and the D6.
Maybe I am getting overly sensitive in my old age, but this is my last post on the matter.

But that should not be an issue here, as the software is useless, and is in fact freely downloadable (well the updates are and they are full programs in their own rights) - its the hardware that does all the protection.

Nahhh.. tell you what, send me your TX and I'll try it with XTR and let you know if it works ;)
Actually... that may be the way forward. There must be someone on this (or other forums) that live near enough to you that you could both arrange to meet up and test your TX with XTR. - just a thought !

The best way to prove if your TX is sending a PPm signal is to download one of the free winscope software pacakages (such as this one (http://www.sillanumsoft.com/) ) and use your sound card to vearify that is sending a decent PPm signal line the image below (taken from my JR X3810)
http://www.micro-heli.co.uk/scope.jpg
If the Spektrum is "compatible" with JR cable, then it uses a 3.5mm mono jack plug, and outputs the signal to the tip, with ground to the shaft.
This would then prove that the TX does indeed send a PPm signal from the trainer port, and it will work with XTR.

Hopefully I'll be able to tell you in a few days as I just ordered XTR and a DX6. But I am quite positive that this will work as the dx6 is just a jr631...and it does transmit with ppm.

Forgot about this thread. XTR works perfectly with the DX6 radio and the jr adapter. So if anyone else was still wondering....question solved
