I am thinking of building a Sub. I wanted to let you know I really like your Los Angeles Class Boomer. In an earlier post, you mentioned the hull was an 'unnamed' brand. Can you give me any details about the design or the WTC as well as the gear inside you have chosen. You seem to really know your stuff.
I am looking into either a custom LA Class
or a Engel Typhoon/Akula Panther
The Engel seems hard to build, but looks to be the best of quality and design. Any thoughts, does this sound too hard for a beginner?
Thanks,
Callaway

Compared to alot of the other r/c sub guys, Im still leaving the harbor on my first patrol! Check out subcommittee.com There you can search the forums and thats where the big dogs hangout. There is another site call marinerc.com that actually has start to finish build ups and also has a typhoon by Engel. Most modelers overseas use the Engel ballast system as oposed to our gas ballast system used here. Ive seen them and they work really well but I dont know much about them. The biggest headache with submarines is in most cases its left up to you to track down and build your own systems. D&E makes the best water tight containers and can be purchased ready to go with all electronics installed. Problem is Ive had no luck contacting him but leave a message at sub comm or visit his website. The WTC in the boomer is a homemade job. You can purchase everyhting you need separately and do it yourself.

Thanks for the reply. I have been through the sites you listed thoroughly in the past few weeks. I really enjoyed the build of the Engel Typhoon, but was a bit scared of the complexity. I think building a more complex ship would be most rewarding however.
Thanks,
