I recently bought myself a Pheonix Tiger 60 from Paylessflymore and converted it to electric using below set up :
Motor : Tower Pro 4130 6 T
ESC : 100 amp with 3 A BEC
Batteries : 2 X 11.1V 20 3S4200 mAh in series
Prop : 13 x 8 composite prop
On the maiden flight the Plane was Airborne in Just above 1/2 throttle.
After the maiden getting the Looks part of the conversion resolved with some touch up and painting .

Thats great!!!
You can easily go upto a 15" prop with that Motor.
My World Models Mustang 60-90 size has been flying with a AXI 4130/16 and a 6S2P 4400mah set-up and swings a 16 x 10 prop to give 1KW on the tap. My plane weighs 9.5 lbs giving about 100 W/lb.

Hi All ,
Finally got the scratch built SPAD DEMON 40 completed and Had the maiden flight this Sunday .
Over all dimensions similar to the SPADTOTHEBONE Demon
Wing Span 48 "
Fuse Length : 30 "
Powered by
Motor : Tower Pro : 3520 6T
ESC : Turingy 60 Plush 60 A with BEC
Battery :4S( 2 x 7.4 v 2 S 4300 mah in series )
Lead wire came unsoldered prior to test hence had to test with an underpowered battery set up of 11.1V 3S 4300 Mah
Flew Well and could easily do a few loops and rolls but lack of power and stiff winds led to it showing signs of drifting hence got it back to ground ASAP.
Hope to have better performance with 14.8V ( 2 X 7.4 ).
I am seriously considering upping the power to have a ZippyK 3S 11.1V 4300 mah and a ZippyK 2S 7.4V 4300 Mah in series to acheive a 5 S configuration .
I am sure the performance would be leagues ahead if the 2nd option works.
Any inputs on using disimilar voltage batteries in series with a series connector would be of help.
Rgds
