I just got an Aquacraft Bristol Bay boat. I want to form my battery pack and break in the motor.

Can I run it on a slow speed on the stand ok?

You can, but the performance level of the Bristol Bay it is not worth it. Run it at the lake with the motor trim turned up and putter around the lake for an hour. More fun than in the shop.

Thanks
Steve

the only time i free-run a boat on the stand is when i have just re-greased the prop shaft and want to get the grease evenly around the shaft, or im doing a set up after a service to ensure that the boat is running as it should, before going in the water

Why dont you run it while up against one end of the bathtub??
When I was test running and weighting the Darby, I accidentally (while goofing around, you know boys and puddles!!) pushed the stick to full throttle, causing a wash of water right over the opposite end of the tub. My Partner was NOT impressed. :censored: (although my aging Mother thought I should hop in and I'd have a cheap whirlpool) :D
I told her that with the 3.5" props, I wasnt looking to loose any of my anatomy. (know what I mean?)
