For all you Slopers, let it be known, that Sundays forecast says a strong north wind. I hoping to get a half dozen fliers out there. I know that two of us guys will be there. Lets here from the rest you slopers.

Don't let it fool you that it says 10 degrees to the east, believe me, this is perfect conditions.

Larry will be maidening his big bird. An 84 inch flying wing. That's going to be fun. http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=733983
Thats a picture of his unfinished wing. He tells me its ready to fly.

I'll ask the pilot bringing me home to step on the accelerator, but I still don't think I'll be home in time to join you :(

Enjoy the winds of HSV. We've had fairly steady winds above 15mph and gusts over 30mph too bad I didn't bring something to fly atop one of the volcanoes - that would havbe been cool to add to our groups album of pics!

I did get to see some large raptor type birds DS'ing off the roads above the rice fields. That was cool!

See you guys in a few more days....

So this will mean we'll be flying way out on the peninsula then, right? I won't be able to make it until after church, so maybe the winds will stay strong all afternoon. We'll see.

Don and Larry,
This video is for you. I think all of us went home licking some war wounds, but really its the most fun.

This is an 8 meg video, so beware it will take a while to down load. Its worth it.

Great Mix!! I thought I was going to eat that JW! :D We need to get one of Don's Cyclops cam for everyone! It would make for another great combat video mix.

Guys,
Thanks for all your comments.

Don is an excellent pilot, and just being around him brings my skills up. Not only piloting but building, and analysis of the vehicle. Still, I'm glad that I took him out, cuz he got me just one week before, in the Blue plate lunch event. He had my number that day. Oh, I'm sure that Don's zagi will fly again.

Larry is another good one. His enthusiam is unbounded, and I appreciated his running commentary as he did a lot of camera work. His WingWarriar had a battery problem and the BigBird had one hard landing that cut some foam. So he was grounded for the last hour of the battle. Both of Larry's birds will fly again. On one collision with Larry, his plane completely removed the MiniWeasles fin. The fin was lost forever. Lucky, I now carry a spare fin. So I was back in the air very quickly.

Excellent video..... I like all the sound. I'm glad to see someone took Don out since he is such a bully. :)

What I want to know is more details on the JW/zagi collision. It appeared that a piece flew off when the two collided and it almost looked like the JW's left wing pushrod was knocked loose and flopped around as it hit the ground? Am I just imagining things?

Definitely a fun video!

12 years old. Thats how I feel when I go sloping. Outdoors, with the guys, blue sky, wind, toy airplanes. We do have a blast.

<read with a 12 year old voice> I don't want no silly girls flying wid us anyway.

And by the way, what this "we" stuff? You have a mouse in your pocket?

The zagi lost a fin in collision. The fin was recovered easily. The JW is ok, but then again, that crash was the last flight of the day. The zagi also lost servo control, so that's why it crashed. Had the servo survived, then Don probably would have recovered from the spin and claimed victory.

Good point. I'll give the checkbook to the miss'us tonight.

Hey tell us more about that sloper you are building. I saw the pic of the tail in the monthly thread. Is it a composite?
