I meant to post this as a reply under Feb 06 thread, but this is OK too. Or ghee can fix it.

I'm sure there is a review of this in a recent model mag. I remember folllowing development of the fulll-size sometime in the '50's I believe. It had large counter-rotating props. It was hard to fly as I recall and the design never really went anywhere.

I'm glad of your mistaken post. I most enjoy reading an original post.

Now back on topic: I find it unusual that our technology has returned to vertical performace. Now, even our toy models can hover like helicopters.

Below is a design I made for hovering/VTOL flight back in 1990. Back then you had to design and build your own planes for hovering since there were none available (also this was not a normal way to fly as it is today). The design began with the dimensions of a Great Planes Stick. The design was lighten to a total weight of 4.5 lbs. The horizontal stab was raised as well as redesigned along with the elevator, vertical stab, rudder, and ailerons. The design was available as an arc.
