hey all,

i recently downloaded the free demo version of g3, but i can't seem to make it work with my graupner mx 12.

i've also got fms which does work with the graupner.

does anybody know a way to make it work?

:p

Sorry.. you can only use your keyboard with the demo. The retail version comes with it's own Interlink controler made by Futaba. It's part of the copy protection. Most radios will work with the program by connecting through the Interlink. The adapter cables also come in the package.

I've already posted enough hints. It is really not that difficult. Go search this forum.

I would possibly say that is probably a straight keyboard hook/DLL is the key to this :) :)

Not that I am in anyway condoning the fact that any attempt to hack / promote hacking / or doing anything that circumvent the purchase of original products is right ;)

But this would only give you non-proportional control as a small TX stick deflection would produce the full deflection of the control surface...

IMO, KE/GP should have made a full functional demo, which could be controlled with joysticks or TX-to-PC interfaces, and limit the flyable time instead. This would give the prospective buyers a chance to avaluate the product better. But then, many (including myself) would conclude that G3 isn't worth upgrading from G2 and, worse yet, is not up to the level of the other leading simulators. I've had a cahnce to play with G3 for a week and I was unpleasantly surprised by its high hardware demands--G3 was dog slow on a PC, which runs AeroFly Pro Deluxe with ease!

I feel bad for KnifeEdge, an American company, which used to be the leader in R/C simulators but, over the years, lost the leadership to European competitors. Most likely, Great Planes was happy selling RealFlight G2 and didn't invest enough into development of G3...

Sorta true - EXCEPT it is not that tough to poke at the keyboard repeat rate to get proportional control. Try this on the keyboard demo version. Hit the key rapidly and compare to hit and hold.

What is tough to do is to get a full proportional control of the throttle since KE mapped separate keys to engine deciles. So gett 63% throttle is a PITA. But for the demo, 60 or 70 is fine.

I pretty much agree with the rest of your argument though. I would not/did not upgrade to G3.

Oh yeah... what Malc said about not encouraging anyone to break the "copy protection". ;)

But there's NO "copy protection" in the demo!
I'd guess that as long as none of the demo files is modified in any way (and running a joystick-to-keyboard converter is hardly a modification), the UELA for the use of the demo is met...
