One of the biggest headaches in planning an electric conversion of a glow airplane is motor mounting. Big outrunner motors from Hyperion, AXI, and EFlite have made conversions easier, but ususally they need standoffs to space them away from the glow firewall and closer to the end of the cowl.

A proper standoff kit can make easy work of this issue. Our 3DHobbyShop standoff kits LINK (http://www.3dhobbyshop.com/detail.aspx?ID=629) provide all the hardware you need for up to 2.0" of standoff length.

4mm fasteners are compatible with the backplates on the largest outrunner motors, and the selection of hardware allows adjustable length from .25" up to 2". When purchasing mounts and standoffs, look closely - many competing standoff systems only allow 1" of height, not enough for most glow cowls even in .40 size.
