Dear SSatoru San, as to those slow parkflyer model airplanes will be allowed to fly in the park legally?
I can see so many small parks in Japan had green field to fly. But may be the police man will think electric RC still too much danger?

Hi Mr. Lin,
It depends. But I do not know of any park that specifically allows R/C to fly from the beginning. There may be a place some group negotiated and got approval to fly.
Most who enjoys in the park fly funfly type of plane at most, when no other people are around. I think many who enjoy flight in the park form self managed group and will not fly when other people are around. I also hear many reports certain park become forbidden to fly. A few complaints to park office is enough to happen.
In your airplane line, PICO TigerMoth, Beaver will be ok but warbirds and larger will be difficult to fly alone in the park. Still there is a risk for radio interference. It is not recommended to fly alone.
Today I took Shinkansen train from Tokyo to Osaka. I do not see wide open space until I reach to Hiratsuka or Sagami area. Those area is rice field, which will not be available from spring to fall. My friend in Kanagawa fly in those field in winter, and in the park early morning in summer.
Other popular place is river bank. It is even possible to request local government or river office to allocate specific R/C flying filed. But most of such vacant places are already occupied in large city area. It is not recommended to fly alone there. There is a huge risk of radio interference. We have only 5 in 40MHz, 10 in 72MHz available. Somebody is already using band near by and there is a huge risk to shoot him down or you will be shot down. It is recommended to find already existing group and join.
I see videos many Taiwan flyers enjoy flying in the river bank near bridge. How are they doing? When I travelled to Tainan, I do not see large park where I could fly. (except newly developped area not in use yet.)

#cvlex-san, although I forget, I can read your Japanese message ok this time. :)

Noise and speed are critical.
Any nitro airplanes or nitro helis are considered dangerous and might be
inhibited to fly at parks.
But any sailplanes including HLGs or soft electric sailplanes (not F5B or
hotliners) and electric slow flyers are OK (permited tacitly) on weekdays
when only few people are there.
When I fly my Carbon-Falcon at high altitude, almost all people, seeing me
from some distance, might think that I look up the sky, not fly RC
airplane or they do not notice me at all.
When I fly my Mini IFO just front of me, almost all people might think I fly
rubber powered airplane or I fly some kind of kite, not RC airplane.
So I fly only on weekdays, not on Saturday or Sunday.

That's why GWS made our planes slow and weak powered. ;)
But American always wants more power! :o

Where do you fly?
That's the question.
One years ago, I purchased XRB SR Lama from Hirobo.
I hover her at my living room, about 7' x 12' open floor space.
One month ago, I purchased Mini IFO from Wild R/C.
At first, I flew her at large baseball field in dried river bank.
After several flights, I tried to fly her a small park near my
house at night.
The park is lighted up all night so it is possible to fly.
I sometimes fly Mini IFO or House Fly from RoomFlight at calm
night there, at about 9pm to 11pm.
#It is winter now in Japan so almost nobody comes to the
#park at night.
Now what essential for me are: smaller, lighter, slower and
more efficient.
One of my next RC airplanes may be some LRF=Living Room
Flyer, such as Plantraco's Butterfly or Nick Leichty's Micro Room Fliers.

#CVLEX (CULEX) means 'mosquito' in Latin, the smallest and
#lightest flying creature in the world, maybe :)

Mr. Lin
I am really interested in your slowstick, unfortunantly, with a wing span greater then 3 feet I don't think I will have a lot of places to fly it :( . I have decided to invest in some micro radio gear and start flying micros, it seems to be the best option for me now. I should be able to fly at the local park without disturbing anyone else. I will still search for a place to fly that is not so crowded near my place of residence, or at least within a 30 minute drive.

Sometimes I fly early in the morning.
Even on Saturday or Sunday, people come to baseball fields or parks in
dried river bank at about 9am or later.
Now sunrise is about 6am in Tokyo or Matsudo.
You have two or three hours to fly your quiet electric airplanes.
#Please do not fly fuel/nitro airplanes or helis early in the morning.
cvlex, a bit noisy ;)

Not by the size! She can fly very slowly in small park space. :)
