Hi all, I am almost finished building a 55% Dumas Swamp Buggy its about 30 inches wide and 58 inches long. I'm in the process of installing the radio and was wondering if anybody here had any ideas on how or where to mount the on/off switch and the charging jack? I have clear plexiglass cut to fit over the radio compartment but I haven't figured out an easy way to get to the switch and charge jack. It doesn't have to be pretty, I'm looking for something quick and functional.Any ideas? Oh I forgot to mention that the boat is powered by a 31CC Ryobi leaf blower engine that I converted to RC use. It spins the crap out of a Zinger 18X8. Thanks Ray

You should mount the switch sticking out of the radio box somehow. Keep it inside the protection of the box. There are a few makers of switch covers and or mounts where the switch has a rod to extend it outside the hull.
Dubro makes a nice mount and Hobyy Lobby has a waterproof switch cover.

One way that I have found for doing it, if looks are not important is to get a plastic bottle with a good tight screw on cap that is large enough to provide the access needed. Cut it off at an approriate point (diameter that you need), cut a matching hole in the lid for the radio box, and glue it down. To access your switch and jack just unscrew the cap. For a boat your size a peanut butter jar (plastic) might be good, along with a wide opening it has a relatively low profile. I use Zap-A-Gap to glue them down.

Another way is to use test pins and route a loop of wire outside the boat and use a male and female test pin or 2mm gold connector
set the male plug in the box surface and use the female plug to "cap" it
apart the circuit is off - withthe pins coupled the circuit is on

I have had good luck with using the plastic container that 35MM film comes in. I cut about an inch off the top and use that glued in my plexiglas cover. quick easy and waterproof :)

Thanks all for the replies, Larry you must be a mind reader. I used a 35mm film canister two days ago to make a switch cover. I simply remove the top and use a long screwdriver to reach in and turn on the switch. I even siliconed a string to the top of the 35mm film canister and tied the other end to the charging jack of the switch so I don't have to remove the plexiglass cover at all, to charge I just pull the charging plug out of the top with the string. It works great. Thanks Ray
